has anyonr ever heard of a factory "flat tracker" bult in 1972 it was a 750 over bored to AMA specs and only 2000 were produced, I realy want any info, pics, or even beter I want to buy one!! Any info or help will be apprecated!!:D

rodeoman! Seems like you're holding out on us! Post some pictures!!

I saw you posted over at sohc4.net that you have one! let see the pics! :D

- i have often wondered about this too...over the years i have heard several reports of people claiming to have one of these machines, with most reports claiming 200 were built in 72 to meet ama requirements...i have never seen photos of these nor have i been able to find substantiating documentation for them...it is my understanding though that ama has a list of homogolated production-based engines and heads restricting what can be raced and that ahrma regs include the 650 in the Sportsman and Vintage Superbike classes as 650/750 kitted implying to me that this would be a 650 production bike with a 750 kit (presumably also production...same carbs? airboxes? exhaust?)-if this is so then where are the kits (part nr?)

"Sportsman classes are open to four-stroke motorcycles, up to three cylinders, built by a recognized motorcycle manufacturer for street use up to December 31, 1972. Like-design models also are permitted. Classes are 350cc, 500cc and 750cc."

- so i am also curious if this question can be resolved

If they are already hosted somewhere on the internet, in the editor click the little yellow icon with the mountain and paste the location of the image. If you want to attach them to your post from your computer, you need to be in the advanced editor so click "Go Advanced" then click the little paperclip icon.

here are som pics any info would be helpful it may be somthing diffrent but it is a factory "odd ball" so tell me what you think, (it is a barn find so it is ruff and I know the color, bars, and the exaust is not stock, but the frame is factory and it is a 750cc

I think you would need documentation of factory serial numbers to say if it was actually one of the bikes you are talking about.it is a 37 year old bike and alot can happen to a bike in that time.
Have you had the engine apart to confirm it is 750cc and what make the pistons are? kits are readily available for this motor,I've got a set of 750cc pistons that are yamaha but not sure if they are from a tx750,I don't know what size pins the tx had.
the frame has had the rear footrest hangers and stand lugs taken off but that could have happened at any time, though when ever they were taken off it was a good job, unless you are correct and they were never there to begin with.

Interesting. Have any shots of the back of the right cylinder to show the engine displacement?
