I subscribe to Motorcycle Classics mag and also they have an email newsletter they send that sometimes has some interesting stuff.
Imagine riding from Kitty Hawk , NC to Santa Monica , CA on a 3300 miles odyssey on a pre 1916 bike? On a newer bike it would be quite a trip let alone on one over 90 years old. Would that I could go along on the adventure! Talk about seeing the country.

Hi Pumps,

That is the coolest thing I've read about in a long time. If I had unlimited income, I'd be there with them, duster, goggles and all! Sorta predates XS's, though.:D

I know where there is an old Harley on display at a restaurant...:bike:

If you click on the "Riders" link on the left , it give a list of them and some are underlined. It's a link to their picture with their rides. Pretty cool. If that thing keeps going I might have to try it some day.

I have two friends who have entered the Motorcycle Cannonball. One is building a 1913 Sears V-twin. The second guy is doing up a1914 HD . The "race" is acyually billed as an endurance run. The group expects to do 2-3 hundred miles per day. Make no mistake the entrants are real enthusiasts !

Maybe some of you know of the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge?
There was a great 10 (or there abouts) episode doco on a re enactment of the first race, originaly run in 1907. The re run was as faithful as they could be to the original, awesome journey. 5 cars were replica of the original 5. A Spyker from Holland, an Italia, 2 De Dion's, and a Contal 3 wheeler (basicly a wicker basket on 3 wheels)

I see 1 bike entered this year, Tim Scott(GB) 1922 - F.N Motorbike 750 (not sure what a F.N is???)

"The dumb way round" .............that is a truely amazing adventure. The Norweigen people must be a lot tougher than Canadians:shrug:. The video was neat. Complete engine rebuilds while on route.........well done! I can't imagine how many times they must have brokendown at the side of the road.
