Thumbnails won't come up

same as royboy (including luddite) also added Norton internet security recently but don't know if it was happening just before the Norton (was away a couple of weeks) but having same problem on a couple of other sites but works on others

I only have computers with Windows 8.1 on them, but everything is working fine for me in Chrome. Are all attachments not working or just some? Which version of Chrome are you guys using? I'm on 38.0.2125.111 m

Also do you have any add-ons installed, perhaps one to block ads or something similar?

Travis

Well glad to hear it was an easy fix.

FLEA, I wonder if Norton is the problem for you?

I was experiencing some of that for awhile. Seems that certain rogue 'analytics' agents would piggyback on certain images and try to get in. My security software would detect it, and the ISP server would try to intercept those and zap 'em. There's been a blurb in the news about AT&T's dispute with Google over this. Right now, I get NO images at all from Photobucket, Imigur, or any other hosting site other than from XS650.COM. That's a different issue, though...

TwoMany,

Have any links to those articles about ATT and Google Analytics? I'd like to check them out.

Travis would demand on your server anything to do with it?
Say if several were trying to view the attachment at the same time?
Or several were posting to the forum and opening different threads.

I've experienced the same thing on Windows 7 and chrome on a laptop with a home wireless connection, Jellybean and Chrome on the phone with Verison 4G, XP and Firefox on a desktop hardwired to the modem. I've found you can wait it out if you have the patience, close the window and or use the back button as an escape.
Been happening for 2-3 months.

...Have any links to those articles about ATT and Google Analytics? I'd like to check them out.

There's been an ongoing battle here along the Austin/Kansas backbone:

http://www.kvue.com/videos/news/2014/05/25/2430224/

It's the 'dirty tricks' that are being deployed that affect us. One of our news stations ran a short expose' on this latest trick, still trying to find it. Finding publicly published detail info on those will be difficult, especially if you're trying to 'Google' it. This is backdoor 'insider' stuff. Like these 'old' ones:

http://support.addthis.com/customer...ics-reporting-addthis-associated-with-malware

Of course, Google has to be upfront about their handling of 'filtered' content, so you know the 'dirty tricks' tools exist:

Then, there's the European issues:

http://marketingland.com/consent-google-analytics-one-many-privacy-changes-sought-europe-101495
http://www.yourdispute.co.uk/privacy/cookies/

Here's a trojan that reports thru analytics:

And, there's some reported issues buried in here (just look at last 2 months):

weekendrider, it's possible, but intermittent issues like that are hard to track down. Is the site slow in general when those attachments aren't showing up? I suppose if people could keep track of when they're having problems like this I could see if it's tied to certain server processes or times of high activity.

TwoMany, I appreciate the effort, but I went through most of those links and found nothing really relevant to the site or to the idea that "rogue 'analytics' agents would piggyback on certain images". That doesn't really even make sense in relation to attachments here. All of the information in those articles is too vague, not about an issue that would affect the site, or trying to make connections that aren't there. I guess I'm not following how any of this has to do with attachments not showing up for certain users.

don't know if this helps but the times I log in is a time of not a lot of activity on this site due to time differences. the site was definitely not running slow when had the problems but was normal speed

Travis, yeah, hard to explain. There's a constant battle out there, detecting/filtering content at the server/gateway/router levels, and who/what decisions are made as to the nature of the filtering. Most is malign, simple packet timeouts, redirects, or backround 'Denial Of Service' type triggers. Some triggered by suspicious data blocks. Kinda depends on location and policies at those sites. Sometimes by the user's own machine (active protection, policies, blockers, ...etc). Not sure what you can do about it, especially when it manifests differently in various locations. The technical details get translated to the public in a way that doesn't make sense, but calms them down, somehow.

Try looking up 'zemot malware'.

Captured this before it 'disappeared'.

As an aside, I've been experimenting with IMG embedded code, trying to find the source of another problem, which started 2 months ago, possibly related to my site's content filtering of image storehouses. I now receive NO IMG metacode images from ANY offsites. Prior to this, my AVG detected malware during image downloads, and multiple reports were uploaded. Afterwards, my net connection would break during these pic downloads, then eventually that stopped and now the pics no longer appear. I presumed that somewhere in the routing path a filter was engaged, and remains to this day.

In this scenario, the first 4 IMG code variants supplied by photobucket for 5Twin's pics fails to display on my screen.

But, I do get pic #5. This is the first one that's worked in 2 months. The IMG metacode looks different.

How many do you get?

Well, that was interesting. That pic #5 came up during 'preview post'. But when I 'submitted' that post and the forum was refreshing the screen, the system froze, and the local 'net' crashed. Now, after the 'net' recovered, and I reloaded this page, pic #5 fails to load. It's not that important to me, I can get the pics alternatively. Basically just waiting it out...
