so just wondering i can't find any threads on the 73' tx650 front brake pads. What hold the pads in place in the caliper. i have a caliper and pads but is there something that holds them in place.

The rotor holds them in. They are an easy slip fit in the caliper, just hold them inplace untill you get them slid over the rotor.
I might get some of that disc brake anti squeal stuff the parts store has in the little packets on the counter and use that on the back of the pads. This stuff kinda glues the pads to the pistons so the pads won't rattle.

Thanks XSLeo i thought was it but i wanted to make sure. The rear drum setup doesn't have a brake pedal stop like the late 70's and 80's do right? Mine just has the pedal and return spring no stop.

They all have an adjutable stop. It's on the inside of the frame.
In the Clymer book page 171 shows the disc brake version, the drum is in the same place, just angled different.
