Hello, first post on the forum and I'd like to start by saying thanks to everyone for making this site what it is as I have learnt so much already!!! My name's Craig, I'm 23 and from the UK and a couple of months ago I purchased a 78 650 special from a good friend.
I am currently building it up as a bit of a brat tracker project (I think) and would like some feedback as to what peoples opinions on my project are so far along with some suggestions for improvements???
So far I have an original frame and engine and intend on fitting - '99 R6 front forks and yokes, xjr1300 rear shocks, original tank, husaberg supermoto wheels, harley sporster narrow glide headlight and an R6 top yoke conversion with fat bar risers and Aprilia SXV OE fat bars. I want a brat style rear seat with either a custom rear fender or the original one re jigged. I want a subtle(ish) mix of old and new and want the paint job to reflect this...... Opinions????

Just waiting on my modified stem and front wheel spacers being made up so I can mock up the front end. Engineering shop has had them best part of a month :/

So here's where I'm up to at the moment. Stem and wheel spacers are back from the engineering shop and the front end is roughly together. I say 'roughly' as the top yoke fouls the tank, the stem is possibly still too short, I lost my new top headstock bearing and the headlight is held on with two zip ties :) Thoughts anyone?

Cheers chito! Capt_zoom - Not sure about the eye to eye length but as luck would have it when i compared them alongside what it had on previously (original i think) they were exactly the same length. Bushes top and bottom were the same id too! Couldn't believe it! Thought i was gonna have to weld new mounts for them but they just bolted right on! :)

So..... I'm back!!!! Since last time I posted I've got a new house, a new baby on the way, a new shed to build the bike in and plenty new ideas for it too!!!
Gone is the brat tracker idea - the tail end of the frame has been hacked off and most of the bits from further up the thread sold.
Here's where i'm up to......
