rebuilding an 83 Heritage Special and am shopping for new pistons .5 mm oversize.

there are those listed for 74-76 xs650's ....did Yamaha change these at all or will these work ok?

Anything from '74 on will work. That's when the 447 motor started. '73 and older are different. That's the 256 motor.

I'm assuming you are referring to the cheap piston sets from Cruzinimage on eBay. I don't know why they list them as they do. They are 447 pistons as you can tell from the factory part number they compare them to. They will work fine in your '83.

I've got about 500 miles on those pistons in my 447. No problems yet. I know that's not your question, but it might be useful if you're considering them.

I'm looking at the same purchase, the pistons are to be used in a 1980 XS650 Special II, but I am more worried about the diameter of the pin. Did you end up making the purchase? Did it work out for you?
