This here is going to be a build thread dedicated to the restoration and preservation of old (read: they don't build 'em like this no more) machine shop tooling. The only thing is, I'm not going to divulge ANY info on the machine/tool in the spotlight (unless someone figures it out). I will be posting pictures of progress though. I welcome any and all guesses as to the make/model/year/operations performed. Generally the equipment will be around or over a century uuuh... used:wink2:

....How many guesses will it take?

My Guess... Shaper?... Sheldon?... Atlas?....

From before the days of the Bridgeport Vertical Mill

I know what it is! It's one of them!

More bits ready for their spot. Gotta love the amp draw with 3 phase. All the cast bits (even the tub:() had a overnite dip in the hot tank and a rinse/flush/wash with pressure washer, soak up the hig gloss enamel without a second thought. 3rd pic: mount for main engagement clutch, with brake.

mmmmmm sausage.... Dammit!

Sure. But the Cincinatti horizontal w/ adapter and swivel table behind it is roughly '06 vintage also. :wink2: I sure as ell wouldn't give up a bridgeport though:thumbsup:

IDKS but with the clutches and all I'll add a second guess that it's a gear shaper.

That mill is a work of art!! I'll bet it didn't look like that when you got it. Very nice !!

I'm sure a fella could whip out a few of these on that baby in a hurry.

Just machine it... then turn it inside out.

Oh, I see it now!

With the deep reservoir, flat jackshaft pulleys, and horizontal splay flayer, those were used to make those $800 military toilet seats!

Or a taffy puller that cracks walnuts...
