After adding a HID conversion kit to my Raider I'm not going back to Halogen. I'll be picking up a HID conversion kit with mini ballast and sticking the whole works inside the headlight for my xs.

If you don't go HID I know a lot of guys who are happy with the silverlight bulb replacements.

Sent the measurements to Benji and there was little trouble installing the speedo.
Same for the headlight ring.
What headlight bucket is that?
Read the bottom of the pics....
It's been posted 3 times already!
Sheesh....

I've got the Mikes Halogen conversion kit that includes the "parking lite" but there are no instructions. The new halogen bulb fits into the 3 prong socekt already in the bike (81xs650 special). Any suggestiuons about wiring the parking lite would be appreciated.

Here's ad from Mikes

On the wires to the Parking Lamp. Hook one to ground, the other to the tai light blue wire. This way with the key switch on the tail light and Parking Lamp are lit.

I'm currently running Mike's H4 Conversion kit. 10,000 miles and no problems and only 1 minor issue. If you're running a stock alternator you will never get everything out of it that it is designed to do.

My next headlamp: http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wc...S/12vLEDHeadlamp.html&storeId=10001&langId=-1

Truck-Lite 27250C Round LED Headlamp 7 Inches
$263.32 for one light. Price has been falling rather rapidly however. Less than six months ago this light was $800

I want to get one soon as well though! Full DOT certified

Some friends and I discuss about this replacement some time ago and with some help of guys how had try we realize that is not that bright compare with a H4 bulb or a HID.

I don't know for sure, haven't seen them. All I do know is the military has bought them since 07 (according to the sellers), and new cadillacs? audis? BMWs? are coming with full led headlights, so it must be do-able...

I know a little bit of LEDs, a wide range of types, models and brands of LEDs and if these lamps are made from 2007 I can assure you that the LEDs have changed, improved a lot since then. I'm just saying what my experience tells me I do not think the LEDs still be in position to give the same or similar light of a halogen give, it requires a lot of power and other things like temperature dissipation for this may be arranged.

Take a look here:

I do know you need to make sure you get the 12 volt version as the Military uses mostly 24 volt headlamps. The 24s will work but will be dim. These bulbs would have to be at least as bright as standard bulbs or the DOT wouldn't allow them. Brighter than HID or halogen? I doubt it but at least they last longer and reduce the load on an already taxed stock charging system.
