just wondering how i could increase hp and torque a bit without boring my bike,i probably cant afford turbo either.performance filters?some kind of "platinum" plugs? just wondering

Different filters, exhaust, and some tuning will get you little bit, but not really that much. If more power is what you're looking for, a big bore is the way to go. Or a different bike altogether.

Tune what you have to a "T." Make sure the setup that you HAVE couldn't possibly be any better. There are tons of threads about every aspect of the XS than can help you here. Use the search function...

but... There is no replacement for displacement
(too cliche?) nah

Performance and no money dont go together.

Increase displacement, a set of Mikuni vm's might help.

If you were that concerned with performance you should have bought a 4 cylinder.

There are people here who must spend $3000 to get an extra 10hp. And about 10 who encourage it.

this forum needs a like button like facebook...

"The only substitute for cubic inches is rectangular dollars........ "
"but... There is no replacement for displacement "
love them.

xjwmx, yeah I never really look to increase power with anything I buy. If I want more power, I buy something that already has more power. Increasing power usually costs a lot of money and many times reduces reliability. :twocents:

Having said that, these turbo XS650 projects do look fun!

at least he made a suggestion

fine, put in some 5w-20 car oil, that should be good for atleast 10,000 hp cause it's like the consistency of water.

Dont forget the iridium plugs....(as suggested by someone else)

might as well add some Edelbrock stickers too.

what other stupid HP mods can i add, might as well add as many shitty suggestions as i can cause those are the ones you seem interested in hearing versus the truth.

Get it running tip top and save some money.

Clean your head ports.
Time your cam.
Tune the carbs.
All can be done for free. By you.

Well, we need a negative rep button, too. :D

Sinking78 gave you very good advice. Make it run as good as it can. Throw away some of the heavy crap. A well tuned xs is pretty snappy, really, if not a neck snapper.

gearing up will make it seem faster in the acceleration dept., up a tooth or two in the back, but you will lose highway ride ability.

yeah,we all need a balance of speed and acceleration,CDNT im not trying to be a smartass with you but it was just rude to come and insult a guy who was just trying to help me man
