Mooneyes Moon Discs - anyone tried them?

I know you can't just bolt on a hardtail, BUT that is a bolt on hardtail. Go to the website and look closely at the pics.

EDIT:

I saw the bolt heads in the first picture. I've also got an issue of Hardcore Chopper (Japan) with an article about that very Motoshop Tonouchi XS650 in it.

I'm sorry this is completely off topic and has nothing to do with Moon discs, but I still stand by my statement.

The hardtail may be held on with bolts and be completely removable, but that still doesn't make it "bolt-on." "Bolt-on" implies that one can purchase a particular part, thread some hardware, tighten and complete the installation without additional fabrication, modification etc.

This one obviously took some serious fab work to get it to its current "bolt-on" state.

No no no. Sorry to confuse you. I was thinking it was a custom made hardtail. Not a kit you can find on eBay. This was above and beyond and like I said a ton of work I could imagine.

So to get this back to topic. I think these moon caps would be awesome if they where on 18" / or 16" front and rear. Super low

I think "teach" over at the JJ makes custom wheel covers, so im sure he could make them in 18 as well.

There's an asian guy (can't remember his name) here in Minneapolis with an xs with front and rear dish wheels. I saw his bike a few times. Rides about 2" off the ground...cool bike.

that would be dcstyle, and those are fatboy wheels.

Wow, looks great! How was the installation? Do you think these can work with a mag wheel with disc brakes?

yeah, I dig these big time. How was the install. Mind writing a tech article on how to install them?

I have a habit of never taking pictures, but the install is pretty straightforward. I made a triangle on the disc, and at each point lined it up with the wide gap between spokes. The triangle is equilateral with about 12" sides. Then I just used SS 1/4-20 button head capscrews, a slice of fuel hose as internal washers, and a homemade aluminum threaded coupler and sandwiched the disc onto the wheel. I also bought a 90 degree valve stem adapter and drilled a hole for it. Once it was mounted, I put the axle with the wheel in a vise, and rotated the wheel while I cut the brake side opening larger. You can have mooneyes cut the hole to whatever size you need, but I decided to do it myself.

Hey guys, here's my bike. Geared it down and had a custom sprocket made. It's no highway cruiser but it moves. I'll be doing the big bore kit and rephasing it after the summer season.

Dc- great job on that sick bitch. I absolutely love it...sometimes I get lost in Xs hardtail land, It seems that everyone wants to build the exact same bike just different colors. good to see some creativity!! Pm me or post some more pics please,

About the cross wind thing: a guy named Scott Summers was the GNCC champ back in the 1990's, riding a big ol' XR600 Honda. One big problem was mud packing in the wheels, this could add as much as 30 pounds to the already heavy bike. So he and his dad developed these plastic mud guards similar to what the dirt track car guys use, they mounted to the spokes. They certainly kept the mud off but when crossing a stream the water flow would push the bike downstream. He also said on a big jump with a lot of air time the bike would go sideways with the wind which could really screw up his plans for where to land.

I know I bring an old thread back to life but where can I find Moon hubcaps for my bike ? I'm looking on Mooneyes website but I just see hubcaps for cars.

Thanks for you help guys !
