THAT is NICE...not a big hand shifter/foot clutch fan but the rest of the bike - yummo...floorboards look cool too

Bought this last year. It's going to be an ongoing project, a valve for my mental health :)
Thanks for all the inspiration on the forum! Cheers Ewan

Well, ya might as well call it May 1st, and Maine riding season is upon us. My '79 Special is as done as it's gonna get for this year. The "build" thread is here though it's really more of an overhaul/refurbish thread.

This winter, finances willing, will see some tin work, paint and a re-cushioned seat, as the foam in mine is about the consistency of a concrete block.

Meanwhile, it's running very well, looking acceptably decent, and about as much fun as an old fart like me can have!

Very nice ! Nice scenery you get to ride in. Hey, are those replica Vincent mufflers?

Thanks! It is pretty around here (that picture was taken about 1/2 mile from my house) too bad it's such a beeyotch to find work.

The mufflers are MikesXS "Brit Style", part number 07-0047

Picked this up after the prior owner let it sit for a few years, replaced the battery, drained the old gas/cleaned the carbs, changed the oil and have been doing a little riding. Got a full gasket kit and some other goodies waiting to go on.

Are you sure you need the gasket kit? It looks pretty clean from here. I'd start with replacing the clutch rod seal and retorquing the head bolts.

She's finally ready. Let's hope the Commomwealth of Massachusetts agrees with me tomorrow. Inspection time!!

This is mine so far, bought it as a chopper, and unchopped it to this point..
Giuliari seat(real), Raask rearsets, Pirelli rubber, homemade front fender (8mm aluminium), reinforced rear swing, koni's, Gutted Ducati silencer after ascot pipes and a burn's collector.
Some thing wrong with the stance though.. Maybe make the swing longer? What do you think?
Btw, it rides like a dream, both on and off tarmac..
Plans for this winter: Bigger brakes in front, work on the stance, and finish the 1liter motor.

Well The winter is over and this is the result.. Rear hoop and fender is gone, seat relocated and wiring (almost) done, New silencer from Supertrapp, and i love it!!
It is not in any way finished, and never will be, but i like the present stance and sound..

Cool bike TXTracker, is it just me or are you running rear sets with a realllly long rear brake arm? It looks like you wouldnt be able to reach the brake without taking your foot off the peg..

I've got really long feet :).
No, i ruined the original raask pedal trying to modify it to clear the kick, so a friend is currently working on a scratch built foldable brake pedal. But it works fine like this, The rear is just a secondary brake anyway.. I have also yet to weld brackets for the passenger pegs( she insists)..

All most done
