Here's my beginning... 1980 xs, the motor here is just a gutted mock up motor I'll use to build around while my real motor is getting a full rebuild at Atom Engineering. The hard tail is from Travis, a set of almost new vm34s...I'll only be using one, some brass and aluminum for pegs and misc, not sure if I'll use the rim or not.... I kind dig the mags, Bates light, a box of parts to go to my new motor, I've ordered a Frisco sporty tank and 7metal west round fender.... These are being painted by a fellow 33r (zombieshawn). Good luck everyone!

Alright here's my 81'. Don't have a box of parts or a pro building the motor, and I don't want to make any false claims on this one but there MAY be rumors of a turbo....however it may be just that....a rumor. Anyway I will be doing a cafe build on this....as you can see from the photos when I told my buddy cafe he grabbed my helmet and started playing pretend. Well hopefully it won't be pretend for much longer...

Good Luck

I don't have any updated pics but I'll take them on Monday when I go to swap out my ignition...hoping that will be the last thing to do before she is a runner and I can start finalizing my thoughts on how I want her to look.

Here is mine i hope to be tearing it down soon.I will probably only use the motor and frame.Maybe a springer frontend 21" front wheel and maybe a 200 rear.I have alot of maybe's hell i might have to ride it up there the way it is but i hope not.I am interested to see everyones ideas and talent come together,This is only my 4th post but i have been lurking for along time and there is some great talent in here and i am glad to be a part of it.Lets get wrenching guys.

Now back to work

so i've got the idea and it's go'n to be a swingarm bob/chop not a brat realy. im go'n to be use'n some BSA amal monobloc carbs ( i say bsa cuz my set is the 389L and a 689R and the 689 where only used on BSAs)

DSCN0493.jpg

the bike will run my foot clutch set up and alot of hand made one off parts pipes, bars, controls. im go'n to be look'n for a stock uncut frame and swing to start with. im go'n to build this one to ride on the long haul runs and far away rides cuz grace(my aco bobber) just isn't for that, so it's go'n to have a larger tank or a set of fatbobs, and a pma and pamco or morris mag. for wheels im think'n 21" front and a 18" back

thats wat i got so far i have the carbs and a stock motor so it looks like ill be hit'n craigslist, ebay, swap meets for the parts, now its time to comb ebay to find my frame

Do you loose much suspension travel when you put a 21" on the front ? (I need all the travel I can get on an XS . I test rode a few that had old stock springs and they all hit bottom when tried a hard stop .) Have you used Amal carbs on an XS before ? ( The Brit bike guys complain about them all the time )

A couple days ago there was a 650 roller in chop cults classifieds..... It was everything but the engine and only a couple hundred bucks I think.

Sounds like a cool set up man can't wait to see it together!

you where more then likly ride'n a bike with low fluied or cut springs cuz i dont have any trouble with grace hit'n bottom and she runs a 23" front wheel and amal 930's i love the old brit carbs and as of late started swap'n them on to jap bikes. i know how to tune them so i dont have trouble with amals cuz i started out on trumps
here's a link to the build thread on grace

thank for the heads up i'll hit chop cult and see whats up

Ok.... Here's what I have. I worked with Dave at VooDoo and he whipped me up a buncha bent tubing. The full drop seat frame build was done by me in my frame jig. Ill be using the stock 13k mile motor. The frame will be going back in the jig for the stock steering head to be welded on and the motor mounts set up. My plan is to do make as much of this bike as I can myself. I have a few sick ideas, I might try and work some of my leather skills into the mix. This is going to be a blast, Im really looking forward to the ride and hanging out.
