Looking to get opinions on whether or not I should ground my headlights, speedo lights, and start button to front of bike. Specifically, I was going to use a free threaded hole on the front of the lower triple tree that is not being used. I just wasn't sure if the front end always grounds back to the frame or not. I have all balls tapered steering fork bearings if that makes a difference

I wouldn't want to use a path to ground through the contact surfaces of the neck bearings. Some of us are not even content unless the ground goes directly to the engine. IMHO of course.

that's what I was thinking. Will probably just route back to frame or engine mounts, although isn't the starter button grounded to handle bar on stock bikes?

No, you can't ground to the front end, it's not good enough, as mentioned because of going through the bearings. Run a wire from the frame up into the headlight, just like the factory did, and use that as your central ground point for everything up there needing it.

Yes, the starter button was grounded to the handlebars but then they contacted a ground wire in the left control assembly which ran into the headlight and attached to the ground wire from the frame in there.

thanks. Will just run everything to frame. My new headlight doesn't have a bucket for hiding wires, so will just run everything up to frame.
Thanks for advice.

Instead of running 3 or 4 ground wires back to your frame, you could run just one and use that threaded hole on the lower tree as your "hub".
