What have you done to your XS today?

I road my XS yesterday so today I went for a ride :bike: on the XS.
Oh BTW tomorrow I'm going for a ride.
I've been getting up early and going for predawn ride and watch the sun rise.
I enjoy it very much. I get to do some of my best thinking when I ride and the roads are light traffic. going to clean her up for bike night in Cape Coral.

Tore around putting the rack back on so I could carry a car battery to install in someone's car so I could drive them to the hospital :D

....looked at it and wondered why i have gas streaks down the side of my alternator cover........petcock is off.....carbs are dry as a desert bone. FLITZ TIME!!!!!!

Glad I can ride my bike here in SoCal. Today I took off my uni filters and washed them. The looked dirty and dry. Will oil them up and install tomorrow.

I road to 3 hardware stores before I found a 10-1.25 mm tap so I could use my mirror with the HHB front master cylinder. it comes with 8mm threads.
I had the 11/32 drill bit.
so using a cordless drill and holding master cylinder in left hand I slowly drilled out the hole to the bottom of the hole.
Then I cut the threads in with the tap.
It took way less time preforming the job than it took just finding the right tap for the job. I still have to remove the other master cylinder and install this one.

Took my front wheel to the shop to get the leak fixed. They took the tube out and put a valve stem in. Seems the last shop put a tube in a tubeless wheel. WTF?

Still stripping paint off tanks and side covers. Getting lots of hours at work and have to start a fire in basement stove before working in the garage, that kinda slows things down a bit. Nothing like MEK in a closed garage, what huh?

Built a makeshift paint booth in my garage and painted my frame! Glad to finally have some warmer weather.

stripping paint... MEK in a closed garage

Somebody recommended Citristrip for something and it's great. As good as any other paint remover I've tried and pretty much odorless and won't strip your skin off too. Spray cans or buckets at walmart. Assumed it would be weak but no.

Thanks Man. One day when I get her finished I will break out the good camera find a young cutie or 2 and take some photos.

cuties ???......at our age Carbon I guess we'll just have to settle for shots with the cat lol:D:laugh:

Nice job with the mirror , looks ace.

I finally removed the carbs to cure my intake leak. I found that both stubs were leaking at the gasket to cylinder head juncture. I whacked some red Hermatite on the gaskets and put them back nice and tight ! they ain't gonna come off easy but they sure are not going to leak lol.

first I've got to wait for some high temp silicon gasket to put around the carb venturis these suckers are not going to leak again

Now I've completely messed up the carb settings ,fiddling with them, I'll have to set the carbs up from scratch doh:doh:

Wells ima hopin yall r fillin betr sune
I road some then road some more.'
Then I saw my camchain adjuster is leaking oil.
So now I have to fix it.
Maybe I'll take it to Yamaha shop and get then to fix it.
NOT! in my life time
