What have you done to your XS today?

Always rolling in my chop.

Finally figured out the rattling noise. Pipe hitting up against frame :/ thought it was my tank so I put cushioned the mounting.

cleaned the atf out of my forks, and put in fresh 15wt fork oil.
BTW, only take one fork cap off and service that fork start to finish. if you take both fork caps off without supporting the front of the bike, Im guessing the bike front will collapse, Oil-sorb kicked everywhere, cat hit the ceiling, sockets everywere, Throttle jabbed into chest and dogs running around wagging like morons. Don't ask.
This thread has made me more productive lately. thanks a lot.

Brembo 2 piston last month. Now checked sump filter and cut new gasket. Patch on screen is holding nice and no stuff/junk stuck to screen. Had a spare cam chain guide with plactic coming off. I stripped and clean it off. Then roughed up the aluminum and plastic and jb welded the plastic back on. Seems nice and stuuuck on. Looking for another engine to build.

Yeah IMHO 1000 is way too fine to start with. I'll often start with a coarse file till the brake pedal groove is gone. the corrosion runs deeper than you would think or wish. Even an unmarked "just corroded" cover will often need 180 or 240 to get through the rot. I am very big on the nylox abrasive wheels, they come in three grades about 150 240 320 or thereabouts. gets in the rounded parts much easier.

Gary you are right I normally start with more course paper, but I didn't want to go to the hardware store it was raining and I have plenty of 1000 grit
I am going to ride up there after this post and get some

Bought some hardware for the SG from Home Depote. Who knows, maybe even find time to install it tonight.......I can dream about it anyways......

Lubed my chain. And finally counted my links. Counted 58. So I'm guessing I have 116 link chain? I'm finally going to pull the trigger and go 18t in front. Already have 30 in rear. But going to go 31 in rear. I liked 17/30 but figured since I'm getting a new chain and sprockets, might as well give me a smidge more less vibes on top.
And lubed my clutch cable as well. Didn't have enough time to do throttle :/

Today i rejetted my carbs. Ive read up a bunch, and it kinda sounds like its all just guesswork as far as fine tuning. anyway, after the carb work it was too cold and dark to ride it, but i did roll it outside and was astounded that it started on the second kick. it seemed to idle better, but thats not really definitive. hopefully tomorrow i can actually take it out and ride a bit, get a feel for throttle response and such. i'm sure there will be adjustments in my future.

Well, I ignored my domestic duties and installed some hardware, tightened the engine mount bolts and installed the starter. Note to self, install starter before installing engine in frame.

Finally installed mirror back on. Last one rattled off on fwy when I was trying to hit top speed.
Adjusted my rear brake, and through some clear coat to seal my finish on my tank. Waiting for more parts to come in.
