What does the XS650 engine weigh?

A lot!! Been moving mine around. Big bear hug and I would guess 125 lbs
Dude, time to hit the gym! (haahaa!)

So, somewhere between 125 and 160. Hmmm. 160 seems kinda high, my 1984 700cc Honda Magna engine comes in at 175 (v-4cyl, water cooled, four carbs).

Thanks folks. :)

I weighed an 80 with oil and no carbs a few years ago on a digital scale and got 170. I remember that because it weighed 50 lbs more than my xs400 engine.

Well then, it looks like I was wrong about 160 seeming high. 170 huh? (without carbs?) A little porkier than I anticipated. Oh well, no matter, it is what it is! :)

Thanks for the help there!

I remember setting my 78 engine on this dolly rated at 250lbs and it broke it in half when I set it on top lol

I have always used 163 pounds as the number. A Yamaha ad says an early no electric start is 135 pounds

In any case it's not a bend over and pick it up off the floor engine!

Interesting that Yamaha calls the early BS38s 34mm constant velocity carbs....

I think the great hairy ned is a kind of british 70's thing, great name for an XS650!

Hey, I caught that too! I just didn't say anything because I thought I was wrong and dog knows I don't need any help looking like an idiot! Haahaa :)

Makes sense, seeings how Yamaha went straight for the throats of Triumph, BSA, and Norton with the XS series, and later with the SR series thumpers.

The 34mm might be an amazing glimmer of honesty in advertising, here's a shot looking in the throat of a pair of 73 BS38's, quite the raised floor in there.

Maybe not a deadlift, but I certainly regretted holding 160 pounds at my hips for a few minutes
