...It is a Dutch bike with matching numbers, VIN is s650-025329.
My question is is it a xs-1B or F?
And how should the front fender be attached?
Both attachments are seen on the candy orange bikes. But what is correct for my bike?

Welcome to the forum, Pepijnwk. My VIN is close to yours, S650-0244xx. We both have the later versions of the XS1B and XS1F.

If your bike is a European Dutch bike, then it would be an XS1F.

Both styles of front fender are correct. The front forks may or may not have the optional "Enduro" type lower mount ears. If you have these enduro forks, then either fender type could be used. If not, only the upper brace style fender will work.

The attached pictures are from an early European 70-72 parts manual, and show the different fork/fender options for the XS1F (and XS1B).

For more info, use forum search of "XS1F"...

Thx for your answer! It now has the lower style brackets towards the axle. But it is original then so I won't have to change them.
It is an original Dutch bike so an xs-1F it is.
Thx again!

Jpwhit1, Should be a 79 Special II. Alloy rimed 36 spoke 19"F/16"R wheels. The alloy 19/16 rimed wheels were a one year only model. The 80G Special II had chrome 19"/16" 36 spoke rims.

Pics and brochures on all the different models, HERE

Two years and models used VIN's in the 2F0-250101 up range. The 78 E Special II and the 79 SF. The 78 E Special II had a 3M0 code, the 79 SF had a 2M0 code. What this is or where to find it, I can't say.
Either way the differences were cosmetic. Mechanically they were the same.

If you take any notice of the ID PDF, post #1, at the beginning of this thread there are

4 bikes with the 250101 motor no.

78-79F
78-79SF
77-78E Special II
78-79E Special II

The updated ID that INXS uses in his blog states that these 4 Bike no's are unconfirmed and In all likely hood a misrepresentation.

In the new ID PDF he gave me, (Posted on XScafe.com), i have colored coded the models and have confirmation on a lot of the different models.

A link to the ID chart and I haven't updated the PDF file because the thread is locked.

The 79 Special II with motor/frame no's that start at 250101. This bike has been verified buy a member here

XSleo i have pointed this out to you several times. Take the time to compare the PDF ID Charts

that is bloody excellent work
Pretty soon the way things are going there won't be any original unmolested bikes left for ID reference and your authenticated records might be all we'll have left for reference

i bought two xs650's this is what is stamped on the front of both of them
anyone help me as too what yrs and models they came out of?

Hey guys, new to the forum! first post. Awesome site!! have been reading up for months before making an account!
soo.. not trying to beat a dead horse here, I have looked at MOST of the charts people are referring to but still a little confused. 2F0 212133? not sure of the last digit. its very hard to make out the characters on the sticker. manufacture date says 10/79 and PO told me it was a 1980 special.seems to make sense but simply trying to make 100% sure ! thanks for the help!

Hi guys I'm kinda new here. Joined a while ago but never owned an XS , more into XT500's . Well I've finally landed one and the engine has me a bit baffled. So the numbers go 447-0067.. So this is obviously a 447 motor and it's from a 74 TX650A according to the last part but it has a 6 bolt old style cam chain tensioner ? Is that correct ? or is it mix matched and can those parts be mix matched.

Ok well that's kind of different but correct to mine. Seems to be half way between the old and new set up. This engine will definitely have the 20mm Wrist pins then I would assume? Thanks.
