Interesting idea...but won't that sit too low? Might have some clearance issues, like speed bumps, etc.? Also, does that mean total removal of the bracket to get battery out?

The battery really doesn't sit that low. The photo looks down on it so it's seems very low, but it should be safe from obstacles. Other parts of the frame would hit before the battery box.

The box and battery will have to come out together, but it will only be two bolts. It will be much easier to access and remove than if it were under the seat or tank.

Very cool!

you Can take my bike for exemple ;)

No. It looks real good from a distance...I can't see it causing any issues...might want to have it insulated from vibrations though?

Some more progress on the front end.
I laced up a wheel to double check clearance, and thankfully my earlier calculations were good and it fits like a champ.

Then I got on the lathe and made up one brake rotor spacer. It took some time, but it fits like a glove. I cut the center bore big enough to allow a spacer to pass thru to the bearing when centering the wheel. Now I just need to drill some holes and that side is complete.

I'm still deciding wether to run the second caliper and rotor. I like the look, but it is overkill for this bike and just extra weight...

Why not try it with one disc first. If you don't like it then add the other. The downside is that you may need to buy another master cylinder to get the feel of the brake to your liking.
I have a single brembo disc with R1 caliper and 11mm master cylinder on a XS special and it works well.

I may go that route, maybe just for a few test rolls down the drive way lol. Honestly, the empty caliper mounts will drive me crazy. If I run one caliper I'm going to cut/grind them smooth or make them part of a front fender mount. So I'll have to make up my mind soon.

I got the second spacer machined, and the one drilled. But, I'm still not sure about running the dual disc. I kind of feel like I'm putting in a lot of effort to run these spoke wheels, and the dual discs will almost hide the front wheel.

I don't think you can go wrong either way... Dual disks are overkill for braking needs, but it helps with the balance (look-wise) of the front...definitely not critical in my opinion.

Looking good!
My $.02 on the dual discs: I had dual stock discs for a while, but went to one when I swapped to R6 forks and R6 (blue dot) four-pot caliper. When you can barely get over 100mph, the extra disc is pretty much a fashion accessory. Nothing wrong with that. If you like the look, go for it. I went with one to save the many pounds of unsprung weight.

Looking forward to seeing this finished.
