The 2016, 2018, 2019 & 2022 Handbuilt Motorcycle show in Austin, TX

This was quite a show. Massive attendance, strong showing of XS650s.
Took a lot of pictures. I'm wore out.

First, the XS650s:

The River Rat calendar cover bike
Tangerine gradient/fade paint looks stunning in person.

More XS's

I was there Saturday for a couple of hours.
It was a big show this year. I went two years ago and it was much smaller.
Glad to to see it's growing.
Lots of interesting bikes.

I went there Friday and Saturday, with DogBunny as guide.
Boatloads of creative talent on display.
I'll post pics of the other interesting (and odd) bikes in a bit.

They build NICE in Texas:D
Because of logistics the show is weighted toward Central Texas, but it draws from all over the country and even the world.
I think this was about it's fifth year, and like anything interesting in Austin it's become over-run by posers. The crowd was really out of control.
I had a bike in it last year, pic below, a 1978 XT500 (with an XS650 front end) that I built for a customer.

Very nice XT500! At least you could ride that. Many of the bikes there were so over-styled as to become objets d'art. Not really my thing, but I get it.

Yeah, pretty big crowd. I saw a lot of skinny jeans and beards...
I talked to one guy who rode down from Tennessee just for the show.
He didn't do his homework and couldn't find a hotel room.

Tell me about it. I found the very LAST room way up by Round Rock. Expen$ive!

Crazy weekend, simultaneous MotoGP and Lonestar Roundup (huge car show with tons of vintage hot rods).

These folks from New Mexico tracked in alongside me on the route into Austin.

Lot of bikes again this time...

Saw this parked out front

And then this one inside amongst the others... different for sure

And a couple of ratty choppers were in a pick up in the side dirt lot, one being a xs650 - but I didn't get a pick.

All in all a very good XS showing!

Hey, John B! Yeah, I saw that #72 too, and a stock XS2 just west of it, but they were gone when I got back outside.

I thought about wearing my hat, so as to be reckanized, but decided no, might upset the posers...
