Hey guys,

Just got back from VT and hauled back a trailer full of Yami's!

Crammed three bikes in the uhaul 5x9 utility trailer!
Two 1981 XS650s and a 1982 Virago 920!
Had to remove the tanks of the 650s so they wouldn't get jammed up.

Cant believe the condition of the 920.
Got a hell of a price due to the ubiquitous starter issues and no kick start on these.

Trailer hauled like a boss, but my little V6 Xterra struggled home through the hills of VT.

Now I'm officially a Yamahoarder!

A Virago, boy, you are a glutton for punishment, lol.

The starter issue is usually pretty simple and cheap. Isn't that the "euro" Virago?

I have no idea!
There were no pics in the Craigslist ad so I haven't done any research yet.
I just know that these monoshock bikes look badass when they are stripped down a bit (in my opinion).

I sure am!
honestly I've liked the look of these for a while now, and this was also the cheapest and cleanest V-Twin I could get my hands on.
This will likely become a cafe style or street fighter style bike.

That's the normal Virago. The Euro model (XV920R) has a chain drive. Neat bike actually, sorta like a Jap Ducati. Too bad they had to base it on the Virago. Besides the starter issues, the carbs are pretty oddball, made by Hitachi. They're not odd in the way they work (same layout and function as a 650 CV), they're just a bit difficult to get parts for, jets in particular.

That Virago was indeed sold here in Europe, I had one. Digidash and shaftdrive. Had no issues with the starter.
I also owned the XV920RH, but that one isnt called a Virago and has closed chaindrive.
Both lovely bikes and I had less problems with them than with my XS's.

Anyway, nice find there buddy.

Thank you sir!
Very excited to get going on it.

Put about 10 minutes into the Virago today and got it running... Sounds an awful lot like a V-Twin Weedwhacker!

Can't hate! Everything works but the starter is not engaging. Will be researching/ordering the required parts tomorrow.

I love this oddball stuff...

:agree:, its running on one cil.
Pretty good tho. lol

Aaaw that digidash brings back memories and I remember the whining sound of the engine.
Sweet.

Oh btw, the back cilinder tend to run hot on these bikes because of the lack of cooling.

While it may not be firing the cylinder it should still be sucking and blowing.
More like an air compressor than an internal combustion engine.

Truth.
The front cylinder isn't running properly.
Verified spark, and timing (as best I could) and it looks like the cylinder is wet when I go in with the scope.
I am thinking that the carburetor is not operating properly since the PO told me that it had been sitting for some time.
Ill whip the carb off and check it out this week.
