UK Board Tracker Build Thread

Thanks Scabber - yes, musnt get carried away and forget that :D

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum - a street tracker, nice choice - very usable! Perhaps I'll do one too ;)
So, the rims are Mikes XS 19" rims 2.15 rear and 1.85 front running 110 and 100 section tyres respectively (both "front" tyres). Central wheel in Birmingham will no doubt have similar 36 hole rims and spokes.
The hubs are both front XS650 hubs. If you have access to machining, you can easily spin up the carriers etc to take a rotor and sprocket. Or, you can purchase Omars kit - http://www.omarsfiberglass.com/#!street-tracker/c1860
The rephase was done by Heiden - I just shipped my crank to them. The cam is their mild rephased street cam. I also purchased my Pamco ignition from them too. Can't fault Jerry at Heiden. Good quality and good service.
Be good to see what you're starting with and some pics. Always happy to help if you need it.

Thanks Paul,
I really like the style of this:

I have the seat and tank (albeit in fibreglass), engine looks to be in decent nick (heads currently off) but as a US import it's a 477 type though I do have a spare (but very very ropey) 533 engine missing lots of bits. I'm missing carbs but have a set of XS750 carbs which I've started to modify to use two for the 650 (the plan is to get the engine running as is, sort the charging system then re-phase/bore/ignition). Then I'll either go with more modern flat slide CV carbs or some VM's once I've done the engine work.

Before getting stuck into the serious engine work I want to get the chassis sorted, I'm unsure on swingarm as I like the extra length of the Radian as per the above but I think it still looks a little skinny, I'll probably look into early aluminium motocross swing arms (will more than likely have to have shock mounting points welded on) but these might be a bit too long. I stumbled across these which seem pretty good value though I think they are standard XS length http://www.motolanna.com/ourshop/prod_448876-Swingarm-Aluminum-Alloy-SuperTuff.html

Upfront I want standard way up forks but not the skinny standard ones and ultimately I want 19" rims with discs front and back. I think proper tracker tyres would set it off but finding dot approved tyres that will at least behave on the street is looking tricky!

edit: just come across these: https://aaa-racing.uk/dtr1-cd5-rear.html :D
Sorry for the thread hijack!

I fear mine may also be glacial...

Does the MotoLanna swinger come up any longer than stock? Do you have dimensions?

Thanks,

Joe

Sounds like a good plan. Pop yourself a build thread up ;)

Re the fibre glass tank - make sure it's lined with ethanol resistant novolac based resin - Caswell GT1750 is good

Thanks Leebo. Well I'm off to Spain this morning on the GS, for a well earned break :D
Next build ......... Hmmm, thinking about a Street Trekker style. Maybe knobblies, ally swingarm / single sided, mono shock ....

Well deserved, Paul...I'm sure that you are very proud.
I can't wait for you 'street trekker' to start

Thanks Mr Bultaco. Yes, very - it certainly gets a good reaction. The Trekker build will be one for later this year. I'm currently on rebuilding an Aprilia RSV1000 Factory that I'll be using on the track this year, so that's taking the time up.
