You're stylin', and I dig the red shoes. Is that jacket keeping you warm on that pretty bike?

I'm in the garage working on someone else's bike.

That your Guzzie that went down jetmechmarty?................... If you had been wearing pretty shoes and jacket like the NY style you wouldn't be here to tell the Tale. These are good pics for a safety add

I wore my good pair of boots when i was riding and they were great, looked good felt comfortable and they were my stepping out boots, you know the ones, back in the mid to late 80's slip on that came up past the calf. Anyways after riding for a while the left boot had a nice damaged permanent mark from the gear changing.

Thing is they looked cool, (by my reckoning), and they did have the added feature of keeping the rain out but when i see exposed ankles and poor riding gear it's a good reminder to me about my own safety.

This is pretty much how most bikers that are young ride in NYC. I would imagine ever person who legally rides a motorcycle is capable of making their own decisions, come what may. I have a friend who rides in ripped tshirts, and this Summer i rode WITHOUT A SHIRT all through the city and over bridges and tunnels. Didnt have a problem, and here is the pic. first is a photo of what most riders of vintage bikes ride in my area, and the second is me when i rode shirtless in 90 degree weather:

This thread was not made to discuss motorcycle safety. The mods already cleaned up a thread in which they asked everyone (because of you) to "stay on topic and be respectful" I encourage you to stay on the topic of this post.

Cease to discuss what topic..............Safety ...........OK .............But remember there are others who may not be as safety aware as your self so my posts also address any one who may come across this thread.

Staying on topic is a pic of me ON my Yamaha not standing beside it.

I see you changed your last post #16 3 min after i posted this. laying blame on me is wrong. There were others involved

Well, to ensure that I stay on-topic, here is a photo of my bike. It was shot just the other day (note the snow) - not that it matters when it was taken.

However, despite the fact that, young and impressionable people might be reading this, it is not a thread on motorcycle safety, and so I won't mention that in my entire 41 years of riding, I never have, and never would ride unless I am ATGATT. Call it a personal choice, call it cowardice, call it a lack of a love of freedom, call it a sense of "I don't give a damn about style", or call it a deep and professional understanding of physics and how impact mechanics works on the human body - I really don't much care.

In that same spirit of staying on-track, I will refrain from noting that to ride without proper gear would be a personal choice - a profoundly unwise one, but a personal choice, nonetheless. On the other hand, I guess it is one way of enhancing the gene pool - so maybe it's not so bad afterall.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Pete
