After having the 650 back on the road for a couple of seasons I've got a few things on my 'to do' list to get done this winter.
IMG_6293.JPG Put a little style in my muffler supports.
IMG_6294.JPG Repair a stripped valve cover stud.
IMG_6296.JPG Resto-modify my old sport fairing and mounts. Repaint.
IMG_6298.JPG Rework the extra prong to keep the kickstand clear of the muffler.
IMG_6299.JPG Replace the two year old neutral switch boot with a NOS Yamaha boot.
IMG_6301.JPG Change progressive springs to straight-rate. (Have emulators in there).
IMG_6303.JPG Lose the stupid 'stop' label. (I admit to putting it there under the epoxy).
IMG_6305.JPG Make a better mount for the stock taillight to the ribbed fender.
IMG_6311.JPG Turn my old sissy bar into an awesome toolkit cradle.

Besides doing a thorough spit-shine and the regular maintenance package...... that is my list.

What's on your list?

Polish a set of lowers, uh...waiting for a cheap cafe seat from china for a 1980, um....buy registration for two of my five......errr.....respoke a rear on a xl250 on and on. The list is realy endless, but those are upmost

Yes, the endless list. But, the short list:

Finish the digital gear indicator.

Finish making the parts for the next version 2.0 experimental clutch.

Add a temporary mains oil pressure gauge, to compare with top-end pressure after doing the high-volume oil pump upgrade.

But, only when it's warm enuff out there...

I have wife, three daughters and three motorcycles and so I actually several distinct lists. Here they are (not necessarily in order of desired or required completion):

General:

1) Learn how to post photos and videos on the XS650 Forum properly (or find a 9 year old to do it for me)
2) Do whatever SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED tells me to do (daughter #2 is getting married this July, so that list is long)

1976 red C-model Standard:

1) Install shiny new exhaust header pipes and front fender + stays (thanks George!)
2) Do a little polishing and fix the slow but persistent petcock leak on snazzy new red fuel tank (thanks Angus!)
3) Strip the clear coat and polish up the engine cases and tappet covers, and the front fork sliders

1981 black Special II to Cafe bike
1) Get it running
2) Make it safe and reliable
3) Install snazzy new MAC Performance exhaust system (thanks Manny!!)
4) Continue with the Special-to-Cafe build (thanks everyone for all the help and encouragement!!)

2007 Honda ST1300:
1) Install new clutch slave cylinder (a task much easier said than done)
2) Reassemble bike

(a very tired and overworked...)

Nice tidy list....I'm guessing that the china seat is gonna require some fab time.

I was reading these threads as they developed. Some seriously intellectual stuff there.......just how many pocket protectors do you own? (said purely in jest).

Hope you can find one.
Maybe you'd like to refresh its internal contacts?

I found one on EBAY searching by part number and it appears to be genuine Yamaha. The neutral switch is in good shape but I'll still try that 'twist to clean' servicing you suggested. Thanks.

Well....Your 1976 'to do' list qualifies as tweaks. It appears that the 1981 list is a bit more intense seeing as item #4 is not fully itemized! Been watching your build progress and you have my encouragement.

To all that replied.... Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one with something to fix this winter.

'tis the season.
the Chinese seat comes with a few brackets and such, but they appear very thin. Im gonna do a write up on it when I get it. there was a few threads awhile back asking about them, so why not.
Ive been a fabricator for 10 years, Im pretty sure I can handle it. I just couldn't justify a 250$ seat for a bike I plan to sell off soon.
