2017 has already arrived. Since I'm working on this XS650 rally, this is probably a very good place to post it. We'll be meeting at Two Wheels of Suches (www.twowheelsofsuches.com). In April, the weekend after Easter. This is a sanctioned Yamaha 650 Society event. http://xs650society.com/event-calendar/ You're invited even if you are not a member. Come join in the fun.

The event page is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/658718484305295/

I need to bump this up off of page 9. It's a rainy day in Georgia. I'm hoping to generate a little interest here.

This XS650 rally has been going since 2002.

North Georgia has some of the best riding in the USA. Two Wheels of Suches (twowheelsofsuches.com) is a great venue.

We have reserved the upstairs of the lodge for the event. There are three bedrooms there that can be shared or contact me if you want one for your own. One has four beds in it. There are also eight cabins and a bathhouse on the property with plenty of room for your tent, if that's how you roll. I'd like to continue to grow this event. Please consider putting it on your calendar. If you're one of those who has been to this, now would be a good time to give me a plug. I'd rather not have a long conversation with myself trying to keep this where it can be seen.

Do you have a designated ride? Had a squiz, looks to be a beautiful area..............my computer is running slow couldn't look along the road much but what i saw it seems to be real rocky, southeast of Suches

Yes, I will be putting together rides. We are located in southern Appalachia. Elevation changes are between 1,000 and 5,000 feet. We have plenty of good technical pavement, fantastic barbecue, many scenic vistas, including waterfalls and lakes, not to mention a lot of friendly people.

yummy roads down there for sure. Had the FJ out yesterday cause it was above freezing and the roads were "dry". Frost heaves are BRUTAL. Danged sneaky salt trucks were out PRE spraying brine for the 6-8" of "heart attack" snow falling now. YUK.

We've had one snowfall so far this winter. The rain has already removed the salt and sand that was spread. This being Georgia, the worst snowstorms often come in March.

Upstairs in the lodge, room 2 is taken. Room 1 has one bed taken and another to share. Room 3 is available with its two queen and two single beds. There are sofas and floor camping. Eight cabins are on the premises and lots of room for tent camping. Seven cabins are still available. I will be sleeping in my own bed due to its close proximity.

I visited the resort today. The place was literally packed with motorcycles. All that and the place is closed for the winter! I wish I had a photo, but I went off without a camera or cell phone.

Chaves is bugging me to show for the rally while he's sitting in some bar ogling chicks.
For me it's either this or ozarks if I can get free at all.

OK Gary. Listen up! Wisconsin is cold and has high taxes and maybe other bad stuff. Life is better here. Every weekend is another motorcycle rally. Chaves saw the light and left Florida for this. I think he's happy with the choice. Come on down! We'll plug you in! I did all the hard work.

Pick a rally and come on down!

Yeah but where's the fun in roads with no salt, sand, ice or frost heaves? I was nearly ruined for life in my run down there last october, good thing the royal star venture kept it from getting TOO frisky.
Edit RSV had a near bald rear tire: my motto? Plenty of tread if she's leaned over dragg'n the boards!

Gary is dead right! Crappy weather, wet slippery roads and stuff flyin' through the air makes northern people the "cool kids".

...although, I may actually have to come down there myself in April if I can get Lucille to a state where she's up for that long a jaunt.

I look into it and see what's what.

Pete

Hmmmmm.....I am an XS650 Society member but could I come on my <gulp> Honda ST1300?

So...the Honda would be OK?

I don't want to crash a party, but Lucille is still getting her pins under her and the list of reliability enhancements is pretty long.

Lemme know - and if the Honda won't cause a problem, I will seek Senior Management Approval and call the lodge.

Pete

PS - holy cow - what a beautiful place!

Bring the Honda! Just come!

In the photo, you're looking north, over the University of North Georgia and Dahlonega pop. 5,000. Suches is in those mountains beyond. It is my definition of paradise, or at least, as close as I'm going to get.
