Daily rides around one of the best riding regions in the USA. Rally headquarters at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. Book your rooms by calling (870) 269-3871 and mention the Yamaha 650 Society for a special rate. There are 2 rooms per bungalow and the Park has reserved a set of bungalows for us. I'll be there, Marty; planning to ride with you in Georgia the week after as well. Guys, you don't have to be Society members to attend and ride with us, but I'll have some goodies for new members. John Chaves (desmoman900 on this board) directs the Yamaha 650 Society and leads the rides in this rally, and you don't know what fun is until you've joined an event with John as MC.

Awesome event Hope to be there again! But only if grumpy has a starter switch. Ain't getting shot at in no closed junkyards this year!

Not gonna live that down, am I? Yeah, Gary, got an extra K&S POS switch prepped and packed, and spare levers too. Dan, you have to be there Saturday at least to pass the Chaves Trophy to this year's winner. Gary, you need to be on hand because John will say terrible things to you if you don't show, and then he'll do worse. I know the man; take this seriously.

Hey Griz! someone has to tweak YOUR nose once in a while and I'm just the guy to do it! John's already been reefing on me to do BOTH Ozark and Dogwood, but that ain't happening this year. I wus kinda surprised, little difference in distance to either from WI land. But can't do 2 weeks on the road in April.

OW! Damn! My nose was already deformed from a lifetime of tweaks, and now it's really out of joint! Thanks a lot, Gary!

OK - now I'm a little confused (like that's never happened before....).

The is one event in Early-mid April and another in mid-late April - but could someone please advise me as to which is best for 650s? Like Gary, I don't think I can spend two weeks on the road in April.

Thx!

Pete

PS - I think that this is the1000th post I've made on the forum.

Best for 650's in what way, Pete? You'll see more of them at Dogwood, it's a bigger event. But lodging choices are limited--camping, cabins with a walk to the bathroom and no amenities besides a bed and linens, lodge rooms (all booked by now) with shared bath, or a 15 mile run from a motel in Dahlonega. The Ozarks rally is much smaller but growing, and the facilities at the Ozark Folk Center are great--a full service restaurant, spacious rooms with full amenities and private bath, and a beautiful woodland setting. I was thinking of doing both, but I haven't attended Dave Hoopengardner's West Virginia rally yet. Two events in one Spring is enough for me, so this year it'll be Arkansas and West Virginia.

Pete, if you're going to drive (or ride?) all that long way south, you might as well treat yourself to both events!

Yeeeeaaahhhh - I'll have to speak with Senior Management about that long a trip. September is still grass cutting season around here and she does't like doing it and I wouldn't want to have to bale it when I got back.....

Double dang...

Pot stirring.
Anyone else bringing the ball and chain? Think Allison's along this year. We will prolly spend a week nosing around the area. Van and one bike as we will do some camp'n, might put the bike on a trailer.

Pretty sure grizld1 will be a pair and the boys(father & son) from KS. I'll ride in so will be an only lonely. Have you heard anything from that father/son from TX that picked up the parts last year? Kinda been watching the FB page to see if the Coopers are committing.

Hey WER are you heading on to dogwood after this? Thinking I might send wife home with the van and ride over there....

Sorry had to go back to a paying job since the price of cows dropped. I'll be doing good to get off early enough to come down Friday evening, I may have to catch up somewhere on the road Saturday. Has John posted Saturday's ride route yet?
