Well I decided to join you gents in the chop off. I'll post some progress here but most likely on my instagram account at "simqu". I'll be doing a bobber brat style. I'm not much of a namer for bikes but I did name this one the Ace Nine. Looking forward to seeing everyones progress as well as seeing thesee bikes in person. Good luck to everyone.

Well I was cleaning out my parts room today and relized I've pretty much have enough parts to buld a second XS650 besides having a frame. A quick call to our friend PJ @Ranger and a front loop has been sacured. Now to get a hard tail from Voo Doo. If its OK with @HAPPY DAN I'd like to give a shot at building two for the build off. I'll be using the motor, front end, and mag wheels of the original purchase for The Jap Slap build.

So I just want to explain the reasoning for the second XS build that I'm calling "Scraps". Scraps is being built because I entered this chop off with "The Jap Slap" which is a bike that I'm building for a buddy who seems to be having problems getting me parts. Being that @HAPPY DAN let me be part of this I feel obligated to do my best to present somthing for the show. Hopefully both bikes will make it. But I'm going to do my damndest to atleast present one. With that being said. Here are some April updates on Scraps. Engine, Wiseguy intake, frisco tank, mag wheels and a 35mm front end. I'm getting a front frame loop from @Ranger I've already ordered a hard tail from VooDoo. Hope to have it into a roller for the May update.

RacerRex- love that monoshock set up. I've been contemplating trying that, but not on this build.
Thanks Satch39. I'm diggin that motor you put together!

i'll post a few quick updates for those of you that aren't on instagram....
Ended up ordering a bunch of parts from mikes, a new charging system, spokes, filters, seals, etc. I did start running the exhaust but haven't finished it yet. Also wasn't liking the a frame swing arm idea so i decided to make one from scratch that makes the bike look more like a bobber. Ended up cutting new axle plates and rolling up the hoops. Gotta make a jig to weld it in now (see pics). Oh and i finished welding up the seat hoop. That's about it, guess i'm draggin ass over here.

Looks like great progress to me! I still need to start on my frame...

Just another update on Scraps. I've been shaving her legs today. Almost ready for the polishing rouges. Hoping to get to the trees tomorrow. I'm usually a springer or girder guy but I'm really digging where this hydrolic is headed. Looks like Scraps is going to be a classy little chop.

Fork shrouds come in. They are for a sportster originally so I nee to trim about two inches off the bottom and slot the mounting hole a little bit to clear the second clamp bolt. Sexy sexy sexy.

View attachment 97976 View attachment 97977 Back porch.. I respect the polishing game! Nice work on that top clamp! We have similar taste on tires as well!

Thanks @Streets Did you use polishing rogues? Here is the order I use black, brown, white, green, then blue on a Harber Freight polisher and changeing wheels after each color rogue. Believe it or not I never touched that top clamp with any sand paper. I preped it with nylon brushes on a drill. Grey to strip the paint then orange and lastly blue. I was also surprised at how it turned out.

View attachment 98121 Hoping to have a motor together soon. This is the furthest I've been into one. Maybe next time I'll rephrase? I'm real big on doing things myself so when I do rephrase, I'll do it.

@JRay77. I am also a fan on doing my own work especially when it's a motor I've never worked on before. I will be rephasing the motor for "Scraps" myself when I get to that point. The only reason I used @IronHeartCycles on "The Jap Slap" build is because my buddy came out the gate with a fist full of cash and a four month build request before he stalled out.

Biltwell Keystones and Slimline risers. Boom!!! Now Im working with a roller. My homie droped me some nice coin for that 35mm front end which started off as his anyway, he also wants to keep the mags now that both will fit, so The Jap slap build is back to moving in the roght direction.
