Hi all Uk xs650 riders:bike: .Just was thinking how many UK members would make the effort to meet some where in the Uk:cheers: . Who would be up for it .... Summers on its way and we can organise a location, what do think :umm:
I suppose the best way to start this is to post on this thread if your a uk member with you city or town location and take it from there :smoke: What say you .ll the best Funky

I tried that over on the XS650 uk forum ( I was a Mod ) but it died a death . Too much apathy and no interest unfortunately.
I even tried to get folk to mark their location on a map and split the Country into area meets but they couldn't be bothered.

Your best bet is to join a local Classic bike club and go out on their weekly hacks.
Don't forget the Gentlemens Ride later in the year and of course look out for charity rides etc

Seen the movie Field of dreams...............The philosophy was .............Build it and they will come................Organize it and the first year may be a disappointment but the next will be better.............Think positive.

'oh well......maybe they'll come next year ':D

What a shame. My first motorcycling experiences were back in '79 on a CB175 and a '74 Ural w/ sidecar while I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath. Runs to Bury St. Edmonds, Cambridge, Thetford, Norwich. Came back for visits when I was staioned in Germany and had a '82 BMW R100 RS. Great roads and never a lack of sights to see and places to explore.

Funky wern't you a member of the XS650 UK forum back a while ?
Did you try and get any support there yourself ?

I left there a couple of years ago due to being screwed over by the Admin . I spent 100+ hours on there organising the various boards and adding information and links and tech faq and stuff but Admin didn't like me changing things so the lying towrag took away my Mod access rights and swore he knew nothing about it and it wasn't him and he couldn't do anything blah blah.Yeah right .

I had been in correspondance with Amal carburettors for 6 months + and had persuaded them to put together a complete bolt on replacement Amal Mkll carb and inlet package

In the end I left and I see pretty soon after I left the forum died a death due to lack of input . I was one of only a couple of members posting most days.
its sad because it was building into a really good UK XS650 resource and forum.

I am located in Cardiff just off the M4 (Junction 32), that is the A470 intersection. In 28 years I have only seen one XS650 in Cardiff and that was two years ago. The funny thing is it broke down right in front of my house. I offered to help but the young guy wanted his Dad to fix it so we just chewed the fat until home help arrived.

weird thatisn't it !

I've kept an eye out for a few years and never seen one anywhere except at a Haynes Motor Museum auto jumble day . A guy had modified one for his Missus and shortened and lowered it and made a nice mini chop for her.

Then I saw 2x XS650 for sale on ebay within months of each other and both owners lived just a few miles from me ?
I reckon most bikes spend most of the time in the garage .;)

It would be good if occasionally I had someone to ride out with . Maybe I'll put a note up on some classic bike forums ....it doesn't really matter if its not an XS650 as long as its a classic bike owner

I plan to ride up an Iceage Glacial Valley today. It starts where the M4 meets the A470, about 1.5 miles from home. Let's see how the XS copes???

With global warming the XS650 has now managed to migrate further north near to Carlisle in Cumbria.
Project Glacia is making (very) slow progress but will, one day, see the light of day.

crikey ! that far North !..... lets hope Hadrians Wall holds up ....wouldn't want any of those Picts getting their hands on a XS650 would we ;):D
