Purchased a downward off eBay.
Read on the web about some guy welding up the gaps in the plate near the pivot.
Got the local fab shop to weld it up.
Fitted it on the bike but the wheel and spacer won't fit.
Measured the internal axle width at 207 mm.
My old axle is 225.
Could it have shrunk.
Or is it off a 400.
 
Bloody axle will be hard to spread.............wouldn't try it on a swing-arm either..........

post some pics and we can identify if it is an XS650
 
Yeah the welding coulda done it. Not sure why you would weld those gaps shut. That gap wasn't a cost saving measure. do some search on stress risers, fatigue cracking. Then; if the arms have moved it's likely the pivot bushings are no longer in alignment or round? typically critical bores like that are final bored AFTER the swing arm is welded up.
 
If you are going for looks, I'd brace it. Sporty looking and practical.
