What have you done to your XS today?

geedubya,
Wow! That bike came out SO nice!
I’ve been busy and hadn’t looked in this thread for a while. I have always loved the French blue ‘76s. That’s what my very first 650 was.
You have done a bang up job with her. Well Done!
Bob

Notice anything different?

Now that’s just downright cool. Starting to look like an airplane cockpit there. I love how the gauge face has a vintage look to it too. I think you could have an item there that would sell quite well !!!!! Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me 2M.

I’ve not notice your other 2 PSI gauges before either. What are those measuring?

It's what my SG did to me! The alternator stopped alternating. Came home revving the bike at lights to make it home. Was down to about 7.75V. Rotor Ohms out to no Ohms. Damn.

Hey, Willis, thanx.

Those other 2 gauges are adventures in oil pressures.
Covered in these:

That must be a TwoMany 653.
I almost confused it with a Boeing 757.

Hey, txxs. Yeah, until you hear it. Boeing don't make tractors...

Fuel gauge - for those 3600 mile cross-country marathons!

Love it - and nicely executed too!

Hey, Pete. Thanx.
3600 miles??? That works out to at least 100 pit stops...

That is very cool 2M! Your bike is one of my all time favorites on this forum!

Oops a typo!

Hey, Mailman. Glad you like it.
Maybe we should get our bikes in a calendar or something...

RE: 3653

Went on ebay today and ordered new rotor. There was one for about $67 and as much as $150. I went for one at $130 to the door. I may be riding this WE. I should take my meter and probe around to make sure my system is ok. Battery was metering out to 12v but the bike VM was showing 10.4-11v. Had the battery tested at Autozone and they said it was fine. It's been on battery tender since Sun.
WTF over....

Hi Azman - could it be dirty/corroded slip rings on the alternator rotor?

....I guess not likely corrosion - in Arizona....

Cheers,

Pete

Nope. checked that...put the meter wires on clean areas of the rings and 0 ohms. It's not open circuit. Shorted out, I guess. It's 4-5 years old. It died a quick death. Rotor don't look burned or overheated. I hope the smoke is still in the wires... Not shorted to frame.
