Boy thems some fancy lookin jugs! What did you think about your experience with Retro Cycle? I was
looking at their website the other day. They seem like a good shop.

I really liked dealing with them. I asked, if I gave him advance notice, if I could get them done quickly as I was only going to be in town for a couple days and wanted to avoid shipping the parts home. He told me to bring them in and take a long lunch and he would jump on them while I waited. I didn't need them that quick but it was good that he was willing to do that if needed. I really like the satin finish that you get and am going to have them clear coated with ceramic as I think anything would stain them. I don't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

While installing some of the new parts I got yesterday, I opened up the clutch cover because it's got a heavy pull (new clutch cable didn't completely fix it) and found this. Based on what i've read, it's good to clean and replace but the amount of debris is a sign that the main filter is pooched, is that right?

Most of it looked like sand with a couple of small pieces of plastic (assuming cam chain guide wear).

I got my bodywork back from the pinstripe today. I'm not very happy with the results which is mostly my fault for not suppling pictures of kinda what I wanted. I learned, a long time ago that you can't instill your vision in someone else so why I got careless, I don't really know. I am not willing to grind everything off and start over so I will have to live with it. I will have to find another painter to correct some of the work then clear everything and cut and buff.

Got all the jets out and the diaphragms, slides are good, but they're going to need a bit of cleanup.

Wow Gary! Those are some rough looking carbs! But I got a feeling you’re just the man for the job!

Dang! I hope the carbs off my 1978 don't look like that when I tear into them. Bike was last registered in the 1990's so will be interesting to see!

Well I believe I finally got all the wires inside the head light connected. Just need to put the left switch assembly back in place that was acting a little sluggish. Sprayed it out with some Radio contact cleaner and lube and seems nice now.

Think I'll do the valve settings and then move on to the carbs, probably should take some picture during that just to show how they looked on disassembly. If they are too nasty I'm hoping the ones off my 1981 I used as the "ride to work" bike for several years will at least function enough to get this one running!

bought yet another set of $100 BS38s just so I can get a pair of slides and jet needle fixing plates .
pretty soon I will be able to open a Mikuni spares shop if this keeps up grrrrrrrrr
looks like some slightly ratty 78-79s you should be good now!
