What have you done to your XS today?

Cleaned and rebuilt the carbs. I swear I don't have OCD, I just like to be organized :)

Sorta looks like Card #7 to me....

Left Hand Drill Bit save:
They are promising a weekend without snow coming up, so I wheeled my 76 out from the shed yesterday and it fired up 8th kick. (PO removed starter, but installed a Pamco).
Going over it for loose bolts, I tightened left fender stay mounting bolt only to feel that dismal release just before you were going to stop turning.
The left over was just flush with the bracket so no vice grip clearance. Remembered that this site' s Sensei had spoken well of left handed drill bits and I had ordered a set of three so now was the time.
The bit had barely started when the broken bolt started to turn out.
It was a five minute fix and a win for today.

Been working on Madness, did some beating on the side covers so they fit the carbs, filters better.

Went through several fuel line iterations, still not done with that. have the spoke, disk rear wheel on

and the rear fender taillight changed, put a standard seat on and dropped it down on the frame. Got enough done to get it off the lift for a bit, so the latest beater can get a wake up drill. Then I rode it!

Plugs are pretty white, not a plug chop, but it feels a bit lean too.

It's been so long, I'll open the carbs and see what jets are in there. A bunch of details to go before it's trip worthy.

Added a larger XS1100 rotor to the rear of the 650. I used a rear caliper bracket from an 1100 and modified it slightly to accept the stock XS650 rear brake stay. I had to change the spacers a little but that was cheap and easy.

I also added a different voltage monitor. I had red LED meter zip-tied to the handlebars but I wanted something less obtrusive. I grabbed one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6v-12v-24v...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 and added it to the panel since I wasn't using the center brake light indicator anyway. You can program it six different ways. I use the battery tender connection when riding and when it's off the tender so the monitor isn't on all the time.
