Good day guys, just curious as to which parts I should try to stay away from.

I got handed an engine to work on, I will be taping off the intake and exhaust holes.

Any dos and dont's would be helpful

Thanks!

Stuff the intakes with rags. Tape isn’t good enough. Don’t get too heavy on the clutch pushrod seal, or any other eposed seal stick a golf tee in the breather box hole

My advice? DON'T DO IT! Voice of experience. I have done it and regretted it every time. I had bolted and rubber compression covers on intake and exhaust, water still got in. Water will go in, period. It's not just the intakes and exhaust every shaft lever seal presents a place for high pressure water to enter and it's bringing dirt with it. This is especially critical on a motor that won't be run right away to boil off any water that gets inside. I sold my pressure washer today partly to remove the temptation to clean another motor, LOL mineral spirits in a pump bottle and brushes is my advice.
