gggGary's latest XS project "madness"

Do you have a sissy bar that will fit it? Best thing is to get a roll bag like a duffel bag but shorter and wider and with a zipper, and strap it to the inside of a sissy bar so it also becomes a back rest. I think they are big gym bags. I have a big bunch of amazing army surplus straps that are about 2' long with a clip on one end like a big alligator clip the width of the strap, and plain on the other end. You can combine them to make longer straps. They cinch down real tight. Real glad I stumbled onto those back when.

exactly what I do :) a kitbag can also carry a load of useful stuff.
It might look a bit uncool easy rider but my back sure thanks me for it.

Yupper my cross country bikes have all been getting back rests for quite a while now.
This is SO tempting....
Set the autopilot, stroll below decks for a cup of coffee now and then.

Came really close to the ton on it last summer, even with a flat tire that day.

All you need is one small piece of luggage, but it has to be the right piece. If you've been to the 650 Society Great Smoky Mountains rally, you'll know about Camden's magic back pack; it doesn't matter what tool or part is needed, Camden just reaches in and pulls it out. We've tried to get the source out of him for years, but he's not talking.

Here's the straps I was talking about. First time I bought three or four, then every time I went back to the army surplus store to see what was new I would buy three or four more and ended up with a whole bunch of them. The tighter the pull on them the tighter they hold. There's probably some lost art rope knot that would do the same thing.

If you have extra boots, you can use them to hold your water bottle :)

I'd leave tomorrow. If you leave Monday you'll have to do over 200 mi. a day to be there on the 14th; obviously doable but stressful.

LOL leaving weds AM to be there thursday evening. That'll either work out or not. Stress is all in your (my) mind. Think I got the bags figured out, a test ride today went well. Center stand tang heated and rebent around the "new" exhaust, installed.

I did 400 mi one day, but rested up for a week afterward in a motel with all-day free breakfast, i.e. free breakfast, free lunch, and free dinner :)

Stressful is the wrong word; the longer you take the more fun it is...

Looking great Gary! No windshield? A sleeping bag a hot bike and a cool chick on the open road! Wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth. I’m so jealous!

Mailman there is still time to arrange to see it in person. Load that white bike and come on over.

That would be such fun, I would dearly love to meet all you guys face to face, you have become such good friends to me. But I’m afraid it’s just not in the cards for me right now. I really do appreciate the invitation though.

Can't hear you mrmotowheel too much static on the radio. Coils wires caps are a set from accel, plugs are stock. BP7ES. Wires are marked as carbon core RF suppression, it's a quick start hot or cold, running well.
I was kind of scared of the 180 jets so went up to 190s got about 45 MPG today, mostly 60 to 70 MPH. Went on reserve at 129 miles got gas about 5 miles later, gas was in the filler neck both fills, took 2.76 gallons. that's not much reserve!
plug chop 6-11-18 190s.jpg

Plugs this morning, 190's needles second from bottom, not a chop just removed.
Don't think I'll be going leaner before the trip.
