2019 Vintage Yamaha Rally

Show up with your modern bike - you don't need to ride in on an XS to join in. 20180930_182106.jpg
(We had to find a really old dictionary to fit this one into the modern catagory!)

I wonder if ther will be any XS650s forsale at the VYR this year...? Can I wait that long?

No organized flea market or swap meet..but i brought a bunch of stuff and set up a folding table..i sold everything i brought except a few misc. items...so if you have stuff forsale related to vintage Yamahas by all means bring it..
Last year there was just one guy trying to peddle a beat up barely running 75 for WAY too much $$$! AFAIK it was the only reason he was there.:umm:
I think i saw that fellow..he didnt look like he had been riding much either..LOL All told I counted a dozen bikes at the VYR forsale of various displacements...and all of them looked to be decent scoots...so if I dont have a bike by the time of the rally..I'll bring my cage and an empty trailer...We'll see...

Yup, +1 on all of the above. The VYR is such a fun event and flexibly run that if someone did show up with a swap table, I can’t imagine any significant objections. In fact, on reflection, there WAS a swap table at the 2018 event and I scored a decent set of soft saddlebags for..about $15 USD.

Thanks for the info. I do have some XS650 & SR500 stuff left over from my builds.

This was the extent of the 2018 swap meet. The reason is that the riding is so great in this area. Riding is objective #1. Still, there is both time and space to swap parts available.

Plenty of time in between the main events..I was gonna post that thanks..ya beat me to it...BTW none of my clothes fit me anymore...I'm down 40 lbs now...
The swap meet was just me..and the year before i just had some extra parts that people wanted..I let that stuff sit unattended for 2 days and no one bothered it,,,but i was able to sell almost everything i brought...and I am glad i brought it...

I received an email yesterday concerning a reservation at the Iron Horse. A double room will go vacant. PM me and I’ll put you in touch.

Interesting event. Dragons Rest Cabins and Two Wheel Inn are nice overflow rooming, have also spent several nights at Phillips Motel. All close.

The following is reposted from XJBikes.com:

Vintage Yamaha Rally Attendees,

Nancy and I have come up to the Iron Horse for a weekend get away and found some very significant changes here!!!

Many of the facilities have been updated and improved.
  • The front parking area has been re-done with concrete.
  • A larger trailer parking area was created behind the semi-private cabins.
  • Additional covered parking concrete bike parking adjacent to the lodge.
  • Most of the buildings have a new coat of paint.
  • The meeting room has been significantly improved with more seating, new pool tables, etc.
  • The previously stone parking areas at Lone Star & Homestead are now concrete (probably will help those Harley guys avoid dropping their bikes)
  • An alternate entry/exit created to access Lower Stecoah Road.
  • Apparently there was a lake behind the bunk house? Never saw it before but it's being beautified and made accessible. I'm told it's STOCKED to the gills (LOL)
  • It appears many other changes/upgrades are coming as well.

Although the Iron Horse has been the best facility in the area, it was showing a little age here & there. Seems that is being addressed ++++

Nancy & I hope to get an opportunity to speak to the owner and get more information we can share with ya'll.

Pictures will be coming!

Kurt & Nancy

UPDATE: The bunkhouse will be updated and an additional bunkhouse added before our rally with ADDITIONAL SPACES in the new updated cabins.
There will also be a couple of Connestoga Wagons installed at the perimeter of the pond available for camping as well.
SO...… if you've been late to the party you can still get a place to spend the night.
Shoot me an e-mail or PM if interested. IH will let me and Jeff know when they are ready and they give us a couple days for our Vintage Yamaha Rally attendees to grab the spots before they are opened to the public.
