Could you elaborate on that filter set up?

One of the big selling points for synthetic oil is longer change intervals, but I don't think hardly any of us do that with these XS's. I think most of us go about 1000 miles between changes. I consider synthetic a waste of money for that. Any normal Dino 20-50 should do. Personally, I use the Walmart brand. I've been using it for years with no issues. I believe frequent changes are the key here, not the oil brand.

Ok, I just ordered the EMGO “commando” style mufflers from amazon, 52.00 a piece! (Don’t you just love how amazon’s prices change almost daily? NOT) I had to scoop them up at that price. I went to the auto parts store yesterday to gather everything I’ll need to get her ready to ride; new plugs, fuel line/filters, carb cleaner. It’s finally warming up here; should be 30’s to 40’s this weekend and next week. Question about oil- since I’m planning on riding the bike this summer despite the cam chain guide wearing into the oil, I am anticipating I’m going to be changing the oil more frequently. I got the heiden tuning “oil cooler” with the replacable honda paper element filter from mike’s specifically because I’m hoping that will help keep the aluminum at bay. I’ve been using this mobil1 synthetic-

If I’m going to be changing the oil more frequently, cutting 3-4 dollars off each quart is really gonna save.
There are numerous "oil threads" here at the forum.

You could spend a whole day reading them :)

I have 5 bikes on the road and for years I've used Rotella T4 15/40 in all of them with confidence. I get it cheap at Walmart.
About $13 a gallon

It has a JASO MA rating

I thinks the one i have has a square billet Ali with an oil channel machined into it and then the 147 hiflow filter thread to accept the filter located where the drian bolt goes.
It uses the old filter mountings to secure the Ali billet block ...quite simple really good idea:D

Man that brings me back to my chop. Your first picture especially. I spent a weekend stripping, priming, sanding, and finally painting my bike gloss black. I had my frame hanging precariously from one of my soloflex machines, and the trees amd other small parts hanging from the basememt rafters. Had no way of knowing that the next day me and the ex would get in our last knock down-drag out, and I wouldnt be able to return to the house for 4 months. Didnt know if I’d ever see that chop again. I did though, and finished painting the tank and assembling it in my dad’s girlfriends garage in the fall and spring of 16/17. The paint on Those parts had plenty of time to cure.
