I recently have been trying to get my bike back up and running after an electrical short in the headlight caused a fire. After separating the bundle of melted plastic in the headlight I decided to remove some of the circuit that wasn't being used. I started by taking the wiring diagram and deleting the lights that weren't being used and some of the clutter that was already wired at the back of the bike to give me a clearer picture of the circuit from the headlight.

Can any wiring gurus out there see any issues with the wiring diagram I have created?

Removed:
-Front turn signals (rear turn signals only)
-speedo and tach auxiliary lights
-flasher pilot lights

Do you want to be in traffic with no front signal lights? Similarly, riding in the dark and not seeing your speedo with the patrol car behind you?
Check to see what is legal required minimum lighting equipment before you put a lot of work in this plan.

Or buy a new harness for $70.00 or so from XS650 Direct and save time, money and frustration.

Thanks for the info.

I was thinking of purchasing the harness but I wanted to keep it a bit more simple, since the PO replaced the wiring at the rear already. In terms of signal lights, I rode this bike for 5 months waving my hands in the air to change lanes and never had problems (not yet thankfully). I do not need signal lights in Sask (If bike was built before 1974). I just wanted rear signals so I didnt have to pull my hands off the controls every time I wanted to change lanes this summer. In terms of the speedo lights, you are 100% right I would not want to be riding around at night without being able to know my speed but I cant ride at night for another 2 years in Sask due to licensing process. This bike is just a city rider.

Starting with the stock wiring diagram isn't a bad place to start. The early systems don't use a lot of the gizmo's that the later ones use.
Pretty basic and easy to understand.
I also like this one, It starts with the basic points with separate regulator and rectifier. It has the later TCI and combo reg/rec in boxes. Just swap boxes to match what you have, E start is in the upper corner.
