Got my E-Ignition from Pete last week, putzin' around and figured I'd put it on. Everything on the left side went on smooth, got to the right side and the cap to replace the advance unit seems to be off a bit. Looks to me like the slots for the cam pin and the advance rod pin are off by a couple degrees. Wondering if it's normal or not. Tried to get a good straight on shot.

On a related note, went to Pete's site (to double check I wasn't effin' something up) and see all his products are discontinued. Have the hackers and thieves ruined his business?

You know, I seem to recall that mine looked like that too. ( both of them )

I’ve had a feeling that Pete was getting ready to retire.

I mailed Pete (again), I suspect (guess only) a deal has been worked out with that other vendor, actually the company that's buying up the motorcycle support sites............
I think what Pete has done for all these years has greatly contributed to the continued popularity of the XS.

The offset in the advancer replacement is correct. And gggGary, there was no deal. I have not sold XS650 ignitions to a distributor for over a year.

Pete: truly you are one of the pillars of the XS650 community. Countless numbers of riders will continue to ride to the horizon on your excellent and pioneering work!
I and many others I'm sure wish you continued success in whatever field your endeavors take you.
gggGary and Tim Beck
Thank you very much. I like to think that I did make the experience of owning and riding a XS650 that much more enjoyable.
