Change is constant???

Borlas off, went commando again. They were too loud. Put in adjustable fork caps raising front end a bit. We'll see if that helps that high speed weave. Though there wasn't any at 85 yesterday. Maybe loaded for traveling made a differerence.
Shouldn't Commando's be upswept?

Another "Yes" vote on the Commandos.
Level or upswept.

I get what you are saying, and I have a set of elbows but since I travel with this bike I prefer room for the saddle bags.
MikesXS calls these mufflers commandos  https://www.mikesxs.net/yamaha-xs650-muffler-26-commando-type.html
I have a pair of 90 degree corners on the way to town, I know them "inside out", pushing as hard as I am likely to do on the street, no dragging of metal. Works for me. When I was riding with the Borlas I was cringing about the noise I was creating. Old age I guess.

Some folks call it Noise Pollution. I'm increasingly aware of it.

Similarly, we have light pollution in many of our cities, dimming our ability to see the stars at night.

At night, I also want to hear the crickets.

Another 200 miles north of gggGary is some of the best nighttime sky viewing in the upper Midwest. And when it is 10 degrees out on a frozen lake :):heart::cheers::woowoo:

Been doing some maintenance.
Set cam chain the other day
been chasing leaks in the external oil filter plumbing, think I finally won.
set valves today, the adjusters weren't pretty, (not sure of provenance had slotted end not the 3mm square, gaps as you might guess were pretty wide, swapped in some good used adjusters from another engine. Changed oil after about 800 miles cuz last change looked sparkly. Valvoline VR1 20-50 both times. Looks good this time, I cut the filter and looked in, seems clean, I'll get you some pics of that. Pics of Gary's o-rings after about 7000 miles no leaks even though one nut was barely hand tight.
The JB welded stainless mesh looking good but had a small tear started on the back side so swapped in a fresh (repaired) filter.
Left cylinder has been testing low for last few thousand miles cold R-185 L 170 Borescope shows some scuffing on the walls, did a poorman's leak down, had air coming through intake. Will keep running it. Doing a few more things preparing for a possible long ride coming up.

Hey'de RD: No just the mikes repo bottom filter, the mesh has bigger gaps, and it also tears.
