We have a restored UP station here in Topeka. A steam train was there for the opening. Took me 2 hrs to find this picture and it turned out to be the 844. I always make it a point to be there when a steam train comes through. Good Stuff:thumbsup:

They went by us and then stopped maybe a 1/2 mile down the track from us where there was no way to get close to it Maybe they needed to refuel? and didn't want us to be there when they did it (it wasn't a scheduled stop)

The ID of the video is k33bFQ7ttwA which looks like it should or could be good. And the URL that's posted looks valid.

When it opens it says unavailable. Any chance it's marked private? Or did you accidentally delete it from your channel? The thumbnail for it doesn't display either.

Let me work on this elsewhere sorry

Working now looks great. Never saw a train do a flyover before. Looks massive. There are several interesting vids about periodic maintenance on those old steam engines.

I've been following the restoration on this brute since I heard about it in the magazines. I wish it would come closer.

I had a few chances to see it and take a tour of the car with the history of the UP in it
Missed one stop by about 20 minutes due to traffic but just seeing it go by was cool enough

I live a 1/4 mile from train tracks. Big Boy went bye. It is big. Pulling a lot more cars than I thought it would be. Couple of them had observation decks. That would be a nice way to see the country.Curious if they have Fire Department along the way supplying water?

Great pic's, everyone! GLJ, I lived in Dixon 1956-1962, haven't been back since my 50th high school reunion in 2012, but from pic's I see on FB, looks like the town is doing better since that thieving city treasurer went to jail.

The 4000 series Big Boys were built to end the need to doublehead across the Rockies but maybe it didn't always work out that way.

Great picture, interesting stats too, one big hunk of metal...

Good news.:) The Big Boy 4014 is scheduled to make a stop for a few hrs at the UP Station right here in Shitburg (Topeka) on Nov 19th. On display for 45 min at the Great Overland Station then it moves to the UP Yard at 1:00 PM and departs the next morning at 8:00 AM. I better start cleaning the lens on the ole Nikon.
