Hello,
I am getting closer and closer to finishing up my rebuild. Today I was cleaning up my gasket surface on the head and noticed a bump on the gasket surface just above my exhaust valve. My head is nice and flat. (checked with a feeler guage) I must have done it while putting my valves back together. Its not huge but it is in what looks to be close to a critical spot. I plan on using the copper gasket spray.
Is this bump life threatening?

The gasket doesn't reach out that far. It goes on the raised portion to the rear in your 1st pic, the part with all the little "nicks" and the groove. So, that ding won't affect sealing, it's not on the sealing or gasket area.

Thank you, thats a relief!

Will using just the copper gasket spray on the gasket be all that is needed for sealing this surface? I think I read somewhere that sealer can be applied to the outside, but I didn’t see that in jims rebuild thread. Im using the vesrah kit btw.

Do the base gasket with copper spray as well? Thats all I would need for that as well?
The spray is a gasket sealer... so yes, it would work anywhere a gasket sealer is needed. The difference with the spray is that it contains flakes of copper. This (theoretically) improves heat transfer.

Ohhhh ok.... that make sense I’ll give the copper spray a go for both gaskets then. Thanks for the quick replies guys. I appreciate it.
