2019 Vintage Yamaha Rally

Got in safe and sound, had a great time even with the unexpected circumstances! Thanks again everyone with the help on that! Hope to get more ridin time with you guys next year, and actually try to meet everybody! Did discover a small oil leak when I got home I believe i know from where! But I was getting ready to do a top end tune up, seals, gaskets, rings and probably new pistons, cam bearings, check valves and springs, ect, ect, ect! So that’s my next project for the month! Looking forward to it,been a couple years since I been inside it! I’m making sure she is up for the ride next year! See y’all then! And like always a big HHHHHOOOOWWWWLLLL to everyone that makes the VYR possible!

Glad you guys made it home safely Wulfbyte. Having a health scare is bad at anytime but having one away from home with limited options for travel is really tough.

Got back 20 minuets ago. 1775 miles, 6 days and had a great time. Didn't ride a lot while I was there. Less than 200 miles while there. The Dragon is a lot more enjoyable at 9am than at 1am with fog and rain. Really appreciate the effort Marty and his friends put into the rally. I think next year I'll haul my bike down so I will fell more like riding while there.

How did your bike handle the long days and high speeds?
To be honest better than me. Biggest problem I had was it died on me going down the interstate. Fuel filters I added between tank and carbs plugged up. I was going to change them before I left but I forgot. My bad, filters were just doing their job. Other than that it used 1/4 quart of oil on the way down, none on the way back. I did have to lube and tighten the chain once.
My butt on the other hand may take some time to get over this trip. I do not recommend 800 smiles in one sitting. The smiles will become frowns. I did take 2 days coming home.

I do need to give a shout out to gggGary. He sent me his phone number before I left in case I ran into trouble. I texted him I was going to be late and asked him to let the Iron Horse know I was coming and going to be late. He let them know, they left me an envelope with my room key and instructions on how to find my room. If not for gggGary I would have had to sleep on the porch. And I do apologize to anyone that I woke up when we arrived at 2am.

The attendees who signed in were 74 riders, 60 of whom were on vintage bikes. Some others came for a shorter stay, but did not sign in. There must have been 30 XS650's, including a couple hard tails and swing arm bobber, a couple '79 Standards, several '72's, resulting in a good representation of our favorite old bikes.
Plan ahead for next years' 50th anniversary of the XS650, it will be the featured marque at CVMG's annual rally mid June in Paris Ontario as far as Canadian recognition of same.
