Hi riv and welcome,
3rd kick after 20 years in the back of your shed? That bike is a keeper.
What I tell any resurrectionist:- "first, fix the brakes"
Your post #8 sez the bike's rear brake is dead. Was it working on your recent ride? Is it seized up solid or what?
Take the complete caliper, reservoir and all, off the bike and tear it down to it's component parts.
Clean it's innards "until they shine like a shithouse door on a frosty morning" Check it's seals are OK.
Remove the seal rings and clean the seal ring grooves.
No matter who made the caliper they all work the same so any bike book will tell you how to re-assemble.

hey Riv, when I have an oddball part and I want to replace it , I go on ebay, and go to a certain section, Like "brake calipers" and just scroll page after page until I find a match, sometimes its not easy to figure out how to get to a certain serch criteria so I do it like this
go to ebay motors and search for a "motorcycle brake caliper" literaly type that into the search, then pick one and look at it and it will say at the top of the listing where you are in the ebay world it will be long like "motorcycle part/ brakes and components/ mastercylenders and parts/ brake calipers" after each slash mark you can then choose to only look in that category by clicking on it, like click on "brake calipers" now it will send you to that category, then on the left side of the screen it will say new , used and such click used that way it will remove all the thousands of Chinese and sucj items and now its atleast down to a decent amount of calipers, sounds like a lot of looking but it works for me when its something I have no idea what is, maybe it will work for you

its broken cases around bleed nipple pretty bad . think I may have been a bit heavy handed freeing piston
Hi riv,
non-damaging but messy way to remove brake pistons:-
Remove bleed nipple, replace it with a grease nipple and pressurise the piston out with a grease gun.
Even an el-cheapo side lever grease gun puts out 1,000+ psi.

nearly ready to ride . got a friend to make rear seat , fixed handle bars from slipping mounted rear lights fixed side stand and fitted new rear brake . pity weather pants rode it up and down street feels good . chomping at the bit to take her out and test then I will prob find much more to do . as long as I can ride it will give me much more enthusiasm to do more on project. all for now will keep posted would not have got this far with out the knowledge on this forum thanks folks
