Need R and L non vacuum petcocks for my tank. Let me know if you have some laying around. Not too worried about condition, but preferably somewhat functioning.

This is a near new MikesXS non vacuum petcock not being used. This is a left which came off a 79 Vacuum petcock equipped tank.
Hole spacing is approx 1.800"
Keep it in mind?

Just need to point out that you need to know either what year the tank is - or the spacing of the petcock mounting holes.

XS650s were built with AT LEAST two different hole spacings - and the wrong petcocks will be totally useless to you.

Pete

MaxPete, I appreciate the heads up. I do know the exact year, but it has the offset gas cap, and is the one pictured in my "new member post"
Measured with calipers and looks like 1.8" center to center would cut it. How vast were the spacing differences just out of curiosity?

Machine, I will keep it on the radar. Trying to get this bike running as cheaply as possible so that is a factor as well.

Spacing difference is just a couple of millimeters, just enough so as they wont swap. '77 had the smaller ones, '78 and newer all seem to be the same (longer) from what I've come across.

Center-to-center spacing is 42 mm. to 1977 (manual operation), 46 mm. 1978 forward (vacuum operation). For an easy conversion of vacuum petcocks to manual operation, cap off the vacuum line barbs at the carb boot and the petcocks, use the run or reserve position to shut off, and turn the levers to prime to turn on the fuel.

Mikes has the non-vacuum's with the 46mm base. 30 bucks per side. Look here. I've never used 'em so I can't vouch for the quality.

Machine, I'm looking at an 80's basket case tomorrow to see if I can't find a set. But if not I'll PM you about the one you have.
I've never had a vacuum petcock on any of my bikes, are the repairable/reliable?
Anyone else need any parts while I'm there (a super ugly king and queen seat for example!) looks like a complete bike...

I rebuilt mine using OEM parts and a Viton seal I sourced separately. It's pretty easy to do and so far (this summer) is holding up just fine. I bought Mikes rebuild kit but I didn't like the quality. Only down side is that the OEM parts cost around 30 bucks.

I run stock Yamaha Vacuum Petcocks of this series. 78/79 Standard model. These have been very reliable on 3 XS's and counting on a 4th.
The Mikes XS petcock offered appears to have little or no use IDK but I have what I need.

I picked a couple up off of Amazon, looks to be the same as Machine showed in the first pic, around twenty bucks a pop. They swap left or right by changing the inlet side and plugging the other....either / or........of course the lever doesn't switch for shut off, which is 9:00 position either side. Just remember "down" is on.............lol

Edited for dyslexia moment......

Late Special tanks use only one petcock to feed both cylinders. I once drained an early Special tank through the left tap, then opened the right to see how much fuel remained; it was about 4 oz., not enough to reduce range significantly. If you want to save a few bucks you could cut a plate from 1/8" aluminum stock, drill holes 46 mm. apart, and cut a piece of gasket material to match.

Hi
have a bunch of these original Petcocks, came from the TX750, left and right, all apart with no gaskets,
are this the ones you looking for?
