Hi truckmuppet and welcome,
"improve" the bike in the photos while keeping it's hardtail and arse down feet forward riding position?
Put the front fender back on because it's also a fork brace.
Note that the stock front brake lever is sized to work dual front brakes.
Replacing the stock front brake lever with a lever that has a smaller (11mm, 12mm or 1/2") piston improves feel on a single caliper set-up.
As does swapping the time expired (book sez 5 years, betcha yours are originals) brake hoses with wire braided hoses.
Drilling the brake disks full of holes helps too.
OTOH, if you ain't happy hard-tailing, do all the same stuff and look for an unbutchered frame.

Yes they are transponders.
Almost instantly after a race you can see lap times on a phone, and there are also graphics to show how your position changed during the race.

Back in the day we had to wait until the next day to learn the race results. Sometimes the day after that. What will the think of next? Predictors, so we'll know who wins before they start?
