Without stating your age: How old are you?

Our 1st TV was a black and white (forgot the name) that had 20" picture tube in a 17" box. Dad bought a acetate cover that had red, blue and yellow tints that you put on the set for 'color' TV....1st show I remember was Buck Rodgers. I did walk to school everyday through 6th grade.

Gas station promotions? In the 50`s there was a dinosaur movie in 3D. When you purchased a "Fill Up" at the Sinclair station you got a family pass to see the movie. I`ve still got the red & blue lens glasses and a souvenir cardboard dinosaur somewhere up in the attic.
GAS WAR:yikes:

That was a lot of guys first job. Several of my friends worked at gas stations.
It was my first job. It lasted me three years, until I went to the USMC.
Here's another clue.

My 1st job was mowing lawns and shoveling snow before school. I had 3 customers. I delivered handbills door to door. I sold Spudnuts (glazed donuts) to business's every week day one summer When I was in 7th grade.

Spudnuts. Loved em! I sold American Garden Seeds and Grit Newspaper. I still got the little plastic radio from selling the seeds but the Grit paper sales didn`t last long.

I recall the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo launches. TE5-XXXX phone number. Walked to C. A. Lindbergh Elementary School K-6. HO model railroad layouts. Propeller driven airliners. The Kennedy shooting. Beatlemainia. Control line Cox models.

I remember our first TV. It was a gigantic 17" Admiral in a blond ash cabinet. At least the cabinet was gigantic. A little brown flat cord that was neatly tucked under the window at the sill and ran up the side of the house to the roof antenna. I think my dad spent the first year on the roof turning the antenna and shouting down at my mom "is that any better", "how about now?"
I can still see Betty Furness selling those appliances.

Yup. JUniper2-3638, a long and a short.

Howdy-Doody. Micky Mouse Club. Spin and Marty. The Lone Ranger. S&H Green Stamps. School milk in glass bottles with paper tops. I could buy a box of .22Long at the Rexall for about 50¢ and get a soda at the counter where the guy actually dispensed syrup into the glass and added soda water.

Remember Kmarts "blue light specials?" First rifle I bought... Marlin Mod. 60 22LR, 3X Tasco scope and a brick of 100 rounds. Blue light special... $29.95 for the whole package. Was 13 or 14. Didn't need anybody's permission. Took it home across the handlebars of my Schwinn 2 speeder.
