Jim's 1980 SG Miss September

I was thinkin' bout this before Bob put up his ergonomics thread... but OK... I'll blame him anyway.

Ha! That’s ok, I’ll take the hit! That’s so weird, your one plate was bent like mine was. Nice to have your own 20 ton press :geek:. I had to go to the local old guys hot rod garage. Other than that, they look identical. By the way I did as you suggested and rotated my highway pegs so that they fold up and back like the stockers.
Just one thing......did you have to go and up your game with the hardware? Now mine look like the plain girl next door! :cautious:

About a year ago I picked up a grab bag of s/s and chrome acorn nuts off Ebay for a song and a dance. Gotta find some use for 'em.

Hi Jim,
best you check the thread pitch of your bargain acorn nuts. Yamaha tends to use metric fine threads on their fasteners.

Ready to hang... long bolts and o-rings are supposed to be here Monday.

While I was at the hardware store I went ahead and picked up some 1/4" fender washers and key rings. The luggage carrier is officially done. :D

I gotta say Bob... you do have some good ideas. O-rings look great on there.
Shout out to Orings and More.

They sent me a 10 pack instead of the 25 I ordered. Literally within minutes of emailing them, they apologized and sent me a tracking # for the remaining 15.

Nice! I’ve just been goofing off today!

Dang! That looks like a two wheel lazy boy! Now you need a cup holder and you’re all set! :D
Seriously, that looks like it should give your knees some real relief! Nice!
The good thing about this set up is that when your just tooling around town, your feet are in the normal position and your bike is still just like factory.

I've got those forward foot pegs in the same spot. Means that I will be able to lean back when I'm cruising but, unfortunately, I'll pull on the bars and this can move them no matter how hard I tighten the allens in the handlebar clamps - I've got mine sitting bit higher than yours. The backrest would alleviate the slipping problem and it gives your stance the "Easy Rider" look Jim. Trouble is, there's no room for Jack Nicholson. Only works with the buckhorn bars though, another reason to keep 'em Fred. Neat work and that's a nice looking bike.

Thanks David!! The backrest is adjustable back so the whole seat is usable. If Jack Nicholson climbs on, he gets the rest and I get to rest against him. ;)

Hi Jim,
dunno how well ol' Jack would fit your pillion seat these days. His recent movies show him with an alarming heft increase.

Was never a fan of backrests. Always liked my girl with her arms around me. Unfortunately, she needs longer arms these days and that rest would be essential equipment if you were carrying a mate. Jim may want to snuggle up to Jack - frankly, the idea leaves me cool! I do like that whole assembly though.
