Hello all,

I have the guts from a 1975 447 motor but the case has unfortunately been tended to at some point by a chimpanzee. All four of the locating pins for the crank bearings on the upper case have been smashed in because the bearings weren't lined up properly when the halves were assembled. I would consider this case a lost cause due to cost of repair. Fortunately, a very kind gentleman has offered to send me a replacement case at the cost of shipping. The heavens appear to have smiled upon me this day.

What I need to know is this: Will the internals from a 1975 XS-B case (447-124363) directly fit a 1981-82 XS-J case (5V4-006696)? If not, What parts would need to be "updated" to fit the 80's case? barring that, what modifications would need to be done to ensure fitment?

Best, -M

Well the parts diagrams are no help on this one cuz they show one # fits 70 to 84 LOL
But I'm pretty sure all 74-84 will interchange if you swap the transmission gears as a set..

Thanks for the tip! And that's the plan, all internal parts from gears, bearings, washers, seals, and anything else that isn't welded on will be going from the 75 case to the 81 case.
