JM do the head stud retorque on don's motor before throwing it in. and again at the first oil change flush.

No, it comes apart with the drum in or out.... doesn't matter.
Marty, are you doing this with the engine upside down? That's the easier way in my opinion.
A big ol' chunk of wood makes a good upside down stand.
It comes up about two inches, hangs up, then goes right back into place.
Remove the shifter linkage. Maybe that's catching?
$15 and it’s fixed. He used the method described by Leo. So, get the upside down lump out of my way and put the bike together is next.

SKF= Svenska Kugellager Fabriken. Translates to "Swedish Ball bearing Factory" Which was founded by the inventor of ball bearings. So yes, definitely a manufacturer of quality parts and tools. Equivalent of Timken, if not even better.
I’m not in the finished place I want to be, but the engine is in and much of the stuff is back together. I still have some of tomorrow.
