Old Brown

Sorry, got busy this morning and completely forgot to measure....
From the mounting face of the stator to the inside face of the pickup is 2.19" Couldn't get square with just the caliper, so I laid a metal block on the pickup and measured from that to the straight edge... added the two... block plus gap.
What other measurement(s) do you need Jack?

This would be a good conversion pickup for non TCI stator housing .
The cutout in the stator is identical for pre and post TCI bikes. All you'd need to do for the non-TCI is drill and tap the 2 holes.

From the face of the inner mounting tab to the face of the pickup....

The little $4.00 ebay pickup should work fine. Bonus. It looks like there are not wires soldered to the coil, the wires that come attached to the pickups are crap.

Need any other measurement Jack before I put the alt. cover back on the SG?

Made some preliminary moves this morning to wire it up to Old Brown. Over the weekend I want to lower the table , put some fuel in the lines and see if I can get it going kicking it. I want to see the timing installed on the bike and running. Exciting times.

Rear fender and taillight has been an on going struggle for me for 40 years.

Always disliked the stock rear fender and particularly the stock taillight but have never found just the right taillight.
Settled on a 78 Special fender the PO had cut back and a small taillight.
The fender and taillight mount were a rusty mess. The bad influences around here compelled me to clean it up. Had to sneak in at 2AM to the kitchen sink to clean up both the front and rear fenders and the taillight mount, It ain’t pretty but it’s not embarrassing ether .

Had no mounting hardware for the fender so cobbled up something.

One thing I can say is if you read nothing else on this thread pay attention to this.

If you are wiring from scratch start at the headlight bucket and work your way out from there.
I started at the battery box and by the time all the connections made their way to the headlight bucket there is no way to get everything in the bucket and have room for a headlight. Didn't help that I went with a 5.75 inch headlight bucket.

Anyone have suggestions about this. Is it a stud threaded in or is it pressed in. My Hooker header 2 into 1 muffler broke that stud going down the front straight at Texas World sometime in the late 70's. Had passed the pit entrance so had to do a full lap with open headers.Such a distinct memory of the sound.
