I couldn't have been more excited than to be on my first XS650 excursion of the season to the Catskill Mountains yesterday, an area I call My Second Home.

High atop Mount Pisgah on Rt 10 (a favorite place to eat my sandwich) it was just as I had left it in October, although with springtime colours. . . Just across the road was a dilapidated barn, typical of this economically-depressed area.. .

Wildlife was sprouting up everywhere, especially in a field near Jewitt on 23C where I found a Chevy Biscayne growing.

It looks like an area I'll have to explore. I just got my bike on the road.

Last weekend I rode an hour for a trash pick up for Abate, then found out it was canceled after I got there lol, then rode to the local Casey's to park, sit, and eat in the parking spot I chose :bike:I felt that parking spot was ripe enough...So I rode to a local town where they were also having a meeting that I also attened for the first time, yay me for confidence.. I had to stay at a friends because storm was coming so we shot guns a bit, and then rain. the rain wasn't so bad but when I tried to ride home, my rain suit got shredded cuz wind lol, I don't have proper rain gear yet. So I got soaked and had to have a friend get me with and bike with his trailer ...made it home, and then put together this fancy little neutral light in the shifter :D

here's a short video of it working.

Went for a ride this morning. Stopped in a very small town a few miles Northeast of where I live. Thought I would post a couple of pics for those of you that bleed green. Only business left in town is a Shell station. The water you see in the background is the Rock River. We've had a lot of rain so it's pretty high. Grand Detour was also where Stan Hack's Supper Club was located. Without google who knows who Stan Hack was.

Across the highway. Never been in it. When it reopens I may have to stop in and see it.

Menu from Stan Hack's I found online. It's been closed a while

Hey Greg! It’s good to see you get out for while. You beat the rain I see. Great historical info about John Deere, I never knew the beginnings of his company. I love history and you guys back East are knee deep it. I look forward to seeing more of you guys back East getting out.
Here in the inferno, we are looking at a string of 100 degree days in the next few days!

Finished up the swingarm bushings and after chopping down the lawn went out for about 40 miles.

All seems good. With an original seat mebbie the ole' MikesXS rear shocks the ride is FIRM on the backside. The sheepskin air cushion helps

That is a great photo! The background, the light, the bike......beautiful!

Old barns make such excellent backdrops.

Got home in time to see my wife put on the final brush of stain on the deck. Win / win for both of us!!! Lol:laugh2:
